Last week I experienced dehydration in the final half of a 10km run and afterwards.
Symptoms during: barely able to lift feet off the ground, pace hardly faster than walking, no gas left in the tank at all. Symptoms after: exhaustion, cramped body and pee like Golden Syrup. Bloody awful.
I had been cutting down on intake of liquids in the evening to ensure an uninterrupted night’s sleep. Older readers will understand.
But it bit me in the bum. Now I’m making sure to get plenty of water early afternoon.
Awaiting a withering response from IannodT!!
Listen to him!!!

I once ran at the coast... early morning... last summer.. and I hydrate well all the time.
My Nan called water, Adam's Ale, and I had always loved water anyway...but after just a couple of Ks I felt absolutely dreadful.. light headed.. cramps etc... luckily a garage shop was open and I bought bottle of water..poured it over my wrists and neck and sipped slowly...very frightening...
My sympathies HF - this hydration lark gets difficult at a certain age doesn’t it. A full nights sleep and lots of water don’t really go together! Glad you’re OK now - a lesson for all of us!
