Heel > toe?

Hi - I'm sorta running my own plan, increasing weekly runs by 5 or 10%. Currently running 40 mins. Joined OneAsics and they offer 90 day tryouts of kit so I thought I'd give their Kayano 26s a test.

I use the Japanese slow jogging technique which advises short steps and landing flat on your feet so no difference really from my Asics 2000-7s. Just slapping along. However I thought I'd try using the gel in the heel of the shoe (to help protect my knees) so started consciously to land heel / toe. Great with my right leg - I can really feel the squash and bounce, but my left foot seems to land rather flat footed - it doesn't seem to roll like my right foot.

Do I just persist or am I doing it all wrong?

Heel striking puts more of the impact through your knees. Try running as quietly as possible. Increasing your cadence will also reduce the shock.
