I have just been relying on Samsung health on my phone to give me the distance I have run but now that Mrs fattofit50 is also running have realised that the same route can give very different distances. What does everyone use to track a run and what is a good watch to have (within a reasonable price) thanks

I used strava while doing c25k and beyond. Then last July I bought a Garmin forerunner 35. Very easy to use and you download the garmin connect app on your phone and the run uploads from your watch to the phone. It gives you distance, a map of your run, calories , elevation gain . I paid £135 for mine but I'm sure you can get it for around £100 now 😊

And it links to strava as well

Yes, Garmin forerunner 35. Easy to use even for a non-tech person like me.

Definitely garmin. There’s a new improved 35 now - the 45. I got a 35 new on eBay for £80.

I use Garmin and love it, it is an all singing dancing watch though that tells me everything as well as plays music, it’s linked to Strava too

I used to have a fitbit charge 2 and that did me really well for a few years and now Willow wears it and loves it

Not much help am i?

Enjoy your search for the perfect watch

thanks do you know which model Garmin it is? general opinion is forerunner 35, 45 or 235. but if yours plays music through it might be worth a look?

Or 245, 645, 935, etc.

The x45 models are newer so the older x35 are good value.

If you always carry a phone then you don’t need music on the watch. Otherwise it’s a useful option. It comes down to budget really.

Mines a Vivoactive 4s the s is for small because I wanted one that didn’t look too big on my wrist. The ones that play music are more expensive but for me that’s what i wanted because on new year’s day I dropped my phone and smashed the screen which was the deciding factor

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music. It's very easy, has functions for other types of exercise besides running, and it holds several Spotify playlists, so I don't have to bring my phone with me for tunes. It cost me £159 from Argos. It's quite nice looking and it's comfy to wear. The GPS seems very good, I can always see a bifurcation where I ran part of the route home on a different side of the road from the route out.
