Sports Tracker Watch Advice

Being very new to running I was thrilled to bits to get a delvire for my birthday. Unfortunately it really doesn’t give me much info apart from my steps and sleep pattern which is inaccurate. I am looking for a new tracking device for Christmas which will show me route, distance, time, calatories and maybe give me targets. Any suggestions out there that will not break the bank?

My Christmas present is waiting for me in a sneaky drawer - Garmin Forerunner 235. Can’t tell you much about it as it’ll be my first, but reading all the positive posts on here about the Garmin range, it was a no brainer for me. 😀

I’ve got the Garmin Forerunner 35, which I’m happy with. About £100 when the sales are on. If you don’t want Heartrate Data then I think there are some cheaper simpler Garmin models too.

I've acquired a second hand garmin vivoactive just as a beginner watch because I will only wear it when running not at any other time in my life.

It links straight away to the app on the phone, if you don't taken your phone it will just link when you get back.

It tells me whilst running

Time

Distance

And instantaneous minutes per mile

Oh yeah and the actual time.

I find it a good motivator while you run and it's good for keeping a steady pace.

Garmin forerunner 35 for me too. It gives great stats on the app on phone or PC. You can also control your music through the watch while running so you don’t have to get your phone out of your flip belt or pocket.

I’d look at the Garmin Forerunner range, as already recommended. One of my close VRBs has the 35 and loves it. I have the 235, which has a few more features. Some others I know well have the 735XT, which has a whole load of extra stats it can measure and can be hooked up to various pods to track even more. The higher the number, the higher the price!

The Garmin Connect app is fantastic and can automagically link your runs out to Strava for you.
