Hi my lovely running family,

I sincerely hope you're all ok and getting on with things as best you can?? I know that some of you are having a tough time at the moment and all I can say is that I am thinking of you and we are all here for each other xx

I just wanted to share my little story with you...

So last weekend I was due to finish the Garmin 10k plan that I've been doing for the past 11 weeks and I wasn't looking forward to the longer 10k run AT ALL...and I was thinking of a million excuses not to go...I planned it for the Saturday but I ended up doing it on Sunday morning and it went ok...it wasn't fast, I wasn't going to be breaking any records but I did it and I felt good about it too...but my reward was that I would have an extra rest day so that meant no running until Wednesday...Monday came and went, my knees ached a bit so I was definitely going to enjoy Tuesday as an extra rest day...

I blinked my way into Tuesday morning about 6.30am, opening my eyes I spotted a spider in between the ceiling and the picture rail...I don't like spiders, it wasn't very big but it was too early to get Daddycav up for him to get it so I watched it for a while...running was going through my mind the whole time, my knee feels ok, should I go?? No, I'll stay here and take this extra rest day...I kept my eye on the spider as it weaved its way up and down the gap, it disappeared behind the PIR in the corner, I waited to see if it would decide to make that its home...nope, it came out of the other side....running, still going through my mind, should I, shouldn't I?? I watched the spider as it crawled over the picture rail and onto the wallpaper which made it a bit harder to see in places...and then...it jumped to the side!! Yikes, I kept my eye on it...it jumped again, getting lower down the wall and then off to the side again!! That was it, it freaked me out and made my mind up..I quickly gathered up my running stuff, took it downstairs and put it on...got my headphones, running sleeve and trainers on and off I went...because it was supposed to be a rest day I thought I'd do some intervals, I had a great run...more of a recovery run, I only covered around 4k but after my 10k on Sunday I felt strong... Halfway through my run I hoped daddycav wasn't sleeping with his mouth open incase the spider decided to jump in!!! So my extra rest day was snatched from me by that little spider!! It did me a favour really because I wouldn't have had that run if I'd have stayed in my cosy bed!!

I took my extra rest day yesterday so I've been for another run this morning, I don't know why but I'm struggling to sleep at the moment and as soon as I get up I just want to go for a run!!! I need to get a grip!!! But again, I had a good run...I aimed for a short 3k but carried on to 4 because I was enjoying it...

So, some days when we shouldn't be running or we've promised ourselves an extra day it just doesn't work out but this is the first time a spider has made me go!!!

Happy running to you all and have a great weekend, it's my daughters birthday tomorrow so I definitely wont be running spider or no spider!! This will definitely be a birthday she'll remember 1. because of the lock down situation and 2. Because the pile of presents she's used to after me frantically whizzing rounds the shopping centres for a month beforehand is reduced to almost zilch!!

Thank you for the inspiration you all give me to carry on...

MC xxxxx

Aaah totally understand your need to leave the room Mummycav, but putting on your runners and leaving the house was all you!⭐

Love that you did intervals or strides, you have loads of techniques in your running cupboard now! And with 10k still in your legs. Impressive!

Another run today so you have earned your day off tomorrow. Maybe a bit of a birthday dance with your daughter on her special day. I'm sure she will enjoy it with her family all around her and special treats I'm sure, even if not so many gifts.🎁

Have fun together.🎂🎈💃🕺❤xxx

Thankyou Bluebirdrunner , we had a lovely day and the sun shone.

I do like all this experimenting with my running, it’s good to mix things up a bit...and people cheering you on xxx

With 4 brothers who once filled my bed with spiders, I share your fear and the blooming things can jump - it shouldn’t be allowed...

Having said that it got you doing something... and you went further than planned.

Today I saw my first live London rat, they’re taking over now the humans are disappearing.

Have a fab day tomorrow

Oh my goodness, that’s a real Brother trick!! I’d never have got in that bed again!!

London rats?? It sounds like the Stephen King novel!! I bet they’re actually wondering where all the humans have gone! X

Love this! Thank you Incy Wincy... 😉 You are amazing MC... After that time of AWOL Mojo you've come back stronger than ever! I'm bac25K after IC... got a little panicky on Wk4 so did it 2+ times... but Mon wk5 for sure... Look forward to graduating (again) & free running once more xxx

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toSuzyKK

Aw thank you SuzyKK ...I do feel so much stronger since my mojo came back...I’ve worked on my running so much just doing different running like Intervals and a few different plans, I still have those meh runs and days where I don’t really want to go, but I just ignore those feelings and get on with it and just run what I want..the garmin plan I’ve just done had some runs on that I didn’t fancy but I just did them and they turned out to be some of the best!! That’s just the way isn’t it?!

I’m sure you’ll smash C25k Suzy, it will just cement the fact that you’re a runner and we all need that every now and again don’t we? I’m so glad you’re back at it after your stint on the IC and I look forward to reading your posts...slow and steady, no more IC for you xxx

Yikes, MC! I’d have done the same. 🕷 I don’t mind spiders, but it’s the surprise factor that gets me - lose sight of it, and who knows where it might turn up? 😱

So glad you’re enjoying your running, it sounds like things are going really well. 😀👍

Happy birthday to your daughter tomorrow. Have a wonderful day! 🎉

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Ohhh, I know cheekychipmunks , my hubby was laying some pipes in our bathroom once and when he took his work pants off at the end of the day the biggest spider ran across the bathroom floor out of the leg! I screamed and shot downstairs, it was the biggest spider I’ve ever seen! I could hear it’s feet on the floor!!

I am loving my running at the moment, just getting out there, especially at this time of year when the flowers are springing up everywhere and the trees are just that little bit greener everyday, it’s perfect...I can’t resist!!

We had a lovely day for Lily thank you CC..happy running to you xx

Yikes 🙀 I don’t like spiders at all, all that scuttling 😭 but I couldn’t have continued to lie in bed when one was in the bedroom. I did have a big black one scurry down my (trousered) leg the other day. I moved quicker than Mo I tell you ...🏃‍♀️ Aaaargh yuk... I always thought they were frightened of us and kept away! Not this one!

Anyway, well done on the run and have a lovely day today for your daughter’s birthday 🥰🎈🎉🍾xxx

MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

Yikes Irishprincess , I would have DIED!!! I think we are def more frightened of them, you just never know where they are!!! Sneaky, scary little things!! That would be one thing that would put me off living on Australia!!

We had a lovely day for Lily yesterday, lots of laughter and cake!!

Happy running IP xxx

Oh I could never live in Australia! We have friends who live there and some of the stories they tell about dinner-plate-size spiders 😱 no. Just no.

Happy running to you too xxx
