Hi my lovely running family,
I sincerely hope you're all ok and getting on with things as best you can?? I know that some of you are having a tough time at the moment and all I can say is that I am thinking of you and we are all here for each other xx
I just wanted to share my little story with you...
So last weekend I was due to finish the Garmin 10k plan that I've been doing for the past 11 weeks and I wasn't looking forward to the longer 10k run AT ALL...and I was thinking of a million excuses not to go...I planned it for the Saturday but I ended up doing it on Sunday morning and it went ok...it wasn't fast, I wasn't going to be breaking any records but I did it and I felt good about it too...but my reward was that I would have an extra rest day so that meant no running until Wednesday...Monday came and went, my knees ached a bit so I was definitely going to enjoy Tuesday as an extra rest day...
I blinked my way into Tuesday morning about 6.30am, opening my eyes I spotted a spider in between the ceiling and the picture rail...I don't like spiders, it wasn't very big but it was too early to get Daddycav up for him to get it so I watched it for a while...running was going through my mind the whole time, my knee feels ok, should I go?? No, I'll stay here and take this extra rest day...I kept my eye on the spider as it weaved its way up and down the gap, it disappeared behind the PIR in the corner, I waited to see if it would decide to make that its home...nope, it came out of the other side....running, still going through my mind, should I, shouldn't I?? I watched the spider as it crawled over the picture rail and onto the wallpaper which made it a bit harder to see in places...and then...it jumped to the side!! Yikes, I kept my eye on it...it jumped again, getting lower down the wall and then off to the side again!! That was it, it freaked me out and made my mind up..I quickly gathered up my running stuff, took it downstairs and put it on...got my headphones, running sleeve and trainers on and off I went...because it was supposed to be a rest day I thought I'd do some intervals, I had a great run...more of a recovery run, I only covered around 4k but after my 10k on Sunday I felt strong... Halfway through my run I hoped daddycav wasn't sleeping with his mouth open incase the spider decided to jump in!!! So my extra rest day was snatched from me by that little spider!! It did me a favour really because I wouldn't have had that run if I'd have stayed in my cosy bed!!
I took my extra rest day yesterday so I've been for another run this morning, I don't know why but I'm struggling to sleep at the moment and as soon as I get up I just want to go for a run!!! I need to get a grip!!! But again, I had a good run...I aimed for a short 3k but carried on to 4 because I was enjoying it...
So, some days when we shouldn't be running or we've promised ourselves an extra day it just doesn't work out but this is the first time a spider has made me go!!!
Happy running to you all and have a great weekend, it's my daughters birthday tomorrow so I definitely wont be running spider or no spider!! This will definitely be a birthday she'll remember 1. because of the lock down situation and 2. Because the pile of presents she's used to after me frantically whizzing rounds the shopping centres for a month beforehand is reduced to almost zilch!!
Thank you for the inspiration you all give me to carry on...
MC xxxxx
Stay safe
