What’s your go-to distraction when you run?

Especially today I felt I needed something to listen to as a distraction since my granddaughter (11) had sent me a message that included the phrase ‘if I ever come to yours again’ 😢 I was there when she was born and have been involved in helping with her childcare (and those of her sisters and cousins) for the last 10 years. Anyway. I like “There’s no such thing as a fish” and the random fact I took from today was the average cost of a pitch for a hotdog cart on or near Central Park New York. Want to guess (dollars/year)? I’ll try to remember to post the answers tomorrow. FYI I’m trying to remember to play hide and seek with a mini teddy every day for the grandchildren and that’s not 100%!! 🤣 Oh and my run was average but distracting!

That’s so sad Sybilw but I’m sure she was feeling sad herself when she said it and we all hope she’ll be with you sooner rather than later! I love your random fact - I suspect the answer is ‘a lot of money’!! Now, off you go and find that Teddy! Go Granny!

It’s hard not seeing the grand kids or their parents. Apparently one granddaughter is playing with another via FB. One in London other in Brighton. They’ve shut themselves in their respective cupboards each with a stash of food playing they are surviving a disaster. There are clothes leading to the loo - stepping stones through a lava field. How’s that for imagination and ingenuity. Kids, don’t you just love them!

They’re so inventive and 🤞🏻 so resilient! We’re lucky to have FaceTime and had a 4 way chat with the kids & grandkids local, London and New York. Thank goodness for tech - just need to learn to use it all 😆

Right. Now I need to stop crying. All this separation is horrible. 💕

Well done on the run though 😕

We all need distractions, runs and positive thinking. Hope you find yours! That podcast is great if you want to smile and run.

Yes it is horrible - good days and bad days for sure. I tried listing the things I cannot do anything about and the things I can do something about...them tried to let the anxiety go , to feel better. It kind of helps. I try now to concentrate on the things I can do. Keep strong, keep running - it’s a godsend when things are really bad.

All the very best.

Son in law’s birthday today, it obviously didn’t see the family. We did have a chat with the grand kids though. They are still bouncing with energy 😃😃😃

My daughters are cooped up with 3 kids so I’m realising I need to be careful what I wish for🤣. Reports of snow falling locally and in London. Weird!!

💕The heart of a grandmother! How we miss those special hugs, games and cuddles & the virtual ones don’t feel right but are our salvation.

Running is a panacea for many things including working through our emotions. Sometimes as you say we need distraction. For me the ultimate distraction is to become fully immersed in my surroundings....the new wildflower....the feel of the rain... the ozone smell of the sea...call of a bird... the dog running after a ball....the pounding waves....the colour of the sky...shape of the clouds....the trees coming back to life .....

🌈 we come back with the post run glow ready to once again take up the challenges of isolation.
