Personal responsibility

I wrote a couple of days ago about the first run I had managed in 5 weeks. I was really chuffed to have finished it.

Now I’m still stiff but it has occurred to me that none of us should take the risk of exerting ourselves to a degree that would necessitate a visit to the doctor or, heaven forbid, to a hospital.

We do need to keep ourselves ticking over, but not risk incurring injury

Any views, VRBs?

👍I agree!! I am still able to get out 3x a week but try and keep to 3 or 4K to maintain fitness but not be out too long. On alternate days a brisk short walk suffices. Life has certainly changed!

Yes I had the same thought just before the lockdown when I was chatting to my husband about us driving to a well known beauty spot for a little walk because it would be deserted. But then I thought, what happens if we had an accident and ended up in hospital? That’s the last thing hospitals need atm which I imagine is a reason why now we’ve been told to go out purely for essential reasons.

All exercise is the same now. We don’t want to get injured so much that we have to go to hospital. That really would be a disaster.

And I don’t suppose many physios are working at the moment.

After my last post I checked my physio website and they are providing telephone appointments. Not ideal but helpful for minor injuries, although I’m not sure about having to fix your own broken leg 🤔😩

Very true. I am doing just that. We Don’t need inflammation or injuries 🙂

I agree entirely - the hospitals are busy. The last thing they need is unnecessary injuries turning up!

Absolutely agree. We do need to keep moving though. I worry about those people who are self isolating becoming physically and mentally inactive, because that could have even worse consequences than becoming infected
