Are Asics trainers true to size or should you size up/down?
I keep getting shin splints with my current trainers so I want to get some proper running shoes.

I've had asics and I loved them . What I would say is get a half size bigger than you are as your feet swell a little on longer runs 😊
Tried some and agree with Buddy just get a half size bigger than normal.
Have you been to a running shop? Had gait analysis? If not, I’d strongly recommend it, and agree with all the responses you had to your previous post ‘Which of these trainers are best for running?’
I run in ASICS, love ‘em, I run in shoes 2 sizes bigger than my normal shoe size, we’re all different, have different feet, and different brands will feel different. So highly recommend a visit to proper running shop and gait analysis.......(when you’re able to, of course!)
Good luck, hope you find something that suits!

Yep, agree with Buddy & Wg, up half a size👍🏻
You need to try them on before you buy. All brands have different shapes. Even within the same brand there are different widths, levels of support, cushioning etc.
Try them on. Make sure there is a fingers width in front of your toes.
I have 3 pair of Asics, 2 pair are a full size larger than I normally wear because I also have wide feet. When I bought the last pair I had gait analysis done and ended up with a pair 1/2 a size larger but the widest fitting available. They are so, so comfortable, its definitely worth getting gait analysis done.
Thanks everyone, I will wait for the local running shop to open again so I can get some tailored trainers. It is so tempting to order some online for 1/3 of the price without trying them on though!
I always have two pairs of the same shoes and then I can switch between so they wear evenly and keeps the cost down as you go through them quickly
I get the first pair from the local running shop where you run in in your current shoes so they can analyse you then they select a suitable shoe or shoes for you try and run up the street while they check your gait in them
The second identical pair I buy online
I experienced injuries relating to shoes I picked out as I liked them and they felt comfortable and had good reviews but since getting them from a proper running shop have not had any injuries relating to my footwear
Love my Asics trainers (Gel-Contend). You hardly know you’re wearing them! Mine are half a size larger than my normal size. So good, I’m going to get another pair. Asics do free delivery and returns if you wanted to try different styles or sizes.
Love my Asics & found them true to size with excellent toe room. Under the current situation you don’t have much choice but to order online but trying on is always preferable. We all come in different shapes and sizes including our feet. Go half a size bigger if any toes are much longer.
Too narrow in the forefoot for me. My pal wore the gel kayano for years til she said the sizing had gone mad and she switched to Ons
You’re going to have to try the shoes on really to get shoes that fit you properly.
I can’t think of any running shops likely to be open at present but they do online sales Free returns, and the usual no strings replacement if they don’t suit you, should still apply I got cheaper delivery than advertised from sportshoes.com Cos I phoned up to complain their postal charge was too high 😁 I’ve found StartFitness to be v good. Runnersneed are good but they rely on others sports shops for processing orders/returns and returns which can be a tad slow
Good hunting 👍
