Mornin’ all, rest day for me today, but after my fourth date with Adrienne, felt the need to get outside and get some fresh air, so took the dogs down to the dog park for what was a very slow, stop, sniff, walk, stop affair getting there. Being on lockdown has brought so many new dogs on walks into the ‘hood and parents with their children too; intent on teddy bear hunts. The dog park though was deserted and the bench seat looked very forlorn. Its not often that there’s not someone sitting on it, but when I got closer saw that someone had left a lovely little painted rock Kia Kaha (be strong) on it. ❤️
I love that one of our neighbours had PC Teddy nabbing Convict Teddy, clambering over the fence only for the waiting police dog to make the arrest. You’re nicked! my son! 😂 Big Ted was built by a Taranaki farmer (you can just make out Mount Taranaki in the background) out of hay bales. What a lovely thing to do. I’d have liked to have taken photos of every single teddy I saw in windows today, but dogs weren’t interested, just anxious to move on and told me what they thought of it all with the 5 poo bags! think that’s a record today. TMI, I know. Happy exercising, in whatever you’re doing today and Kia Kaha 😎 long may the kindness continue x

What a wonderful thing to do!! 🥰🥰🥰How beautiful to see how everyone is finding ways to share a sense of togetherness at a time when we are forced to be apart. We may all be fighting a virus, but the love and humanity is stronger than it has been in many, many years. Take care Lexi and thanks for sharing the magic!! ❤️
The idea was to cheer up the kids in lockdown and seeing little ones out today, it just made me smile to see their delight at spotting the teddies. So many people have taken it to heart and have them in their windows. 😊
That’s a lovely post lexi - who doesn’t feel good at the sight of a Teddy?! As Womangolfer says, it seems to be rainbow paintings here although that may just be in houses with small children - I’ve seen several in windows in my road! Very cheerful! Stay well!
Isn’t it just lovely? I have so many teddies at home left over from granddaughter now aged 18 but can’t put any in the window because they can’t be seen from the pavement. ☹️ You stay well too
Nice thing to do, great photos lexi, big Ted looks good and I can see Mt Taranaki in the background, I see its in the Egmont National Park, a huge volcano which last erupted in 1775, so I don't suppose you have climbed it.
It's nice that you can still get out for a walk or a run, sad that the Vitality Running World Cup has been postponed, hopefully it can resume where we left off once everything is back to normal, but that could still be a few months away.
Yes it is disappointing about the World Cup, but as you say hopefully it can resume. I understand South Africa the current leaders of the Cup have some pretty stringent controls in place for their lockdown, no dog walking, jogging outside or alcohol for 3 weeks. I haven’t visited Taranaki for years but its pretty impressive. Stay well Alan.
Yes I noticed lexi that in South Africa you can't even take the dog for a walk let alone run or walk outside, they were at the top of the list of the VRWC, that's why they had to postpone it, at least we here in the UK and you in N.Z can at least take the dog for a walk or go for a run,
It's now 9.45 in the morning on Thursday, now at this time I am usually getting ready to go to my Thursday morning walking club, that is not on but I will walk in the opposite direction around the route that we walk on and I might see others from the club, of course, I will keep my distance if I see anyone and just say good morning. Take care and of course, keep safe.
Hopefully this won’t last too long Alan before we can get back to normal. Don’t think I will ever take for granted again the freedom of being able to go outside whenever I want, enjoy your walk today .😊
What a lovely idea Lexi, and so easy to do something small to brighten everyone's day. The big hay bale one is amazing.
My mum collected teddy bears, and I have kept a few of her favourites. A little one sits on my bookcase next to her photograph...
In my daughter's road they have a system where a green card in the window means we are fine, but a red card means we need help. ( with shopping I think)
These small caring acts are reassuring, by pulling together we will come through this having learned something maybe.
😂😂 I love that you have some of your Mum’s teddies, it must have been hard to choose which to keep. Mr Lexi built a shelf in the spare bedroom when our granddaughter used to stay, when she was younger its full of teds and I suggested to her last year it might be time to sort them out and give any away, she sorted through them and we still have them all. 😊 there’s something about teds. ❤️ Love this caring going on, love to Adrienne xx
What a Lovely post Lexi6. When we’ve been on holiday in Devon they’ve often had village themes such as putting old wellington boots and shoes planted with summer flowers on their doorsteps and it shows a community spirit.
Our friends in Australia are wishing that their prime minister was as brilliant as yours is proving to be, putting her people first and not being afraid to take action .
I love the idea of the Wellies 💐❤️Our PM who normally lives in Auckland is staying in Wellington and she has teddies in her window too. She again has shown what a great leader she is. She has also given the police wide ranging powers, so if anyone defies the lockdown, they get arrested. Returning kiwis arriving back in NZ who have no self isolation plans are straight away put into quarantine in campervans or hotels. Just love her style and hopefully it helps us to stay well. You and UTS keep safe. 😊
Love this! What a great idea. No doubt as time goes on, people will become more and more creative. This crisis does seem to be bringing out the creativity in people. One I saw yesterday on Facebook was somebody making lots of different faces out of toilets, using toilet rolls, towels, clothing etc. Possibly hard to imagine without seeing it, but it made me smile 😃 xx
Some people are just plain clever. I saw a video clip of an American family who had done a Disney Pirates of the Carribean ride in their house - so funny and I have seen the “bog” people, they’re such a laugh and what about the London tug skipper playing Always Look On The Bright Side 😂 Hope this all continues after lockdown finishes xx
Me too Ali, I know its a worrying time for us all, but this sort of thing just eases the stress and makes you feel so much better having a laugh and hear hear, long may it continue x
In the UK we stood outside our homes, on our balconies etc, at 8pm tonight to clap in honour of those working in our health and other essential services. Very moving.
Thank you Mands, I didn’t realise how fab they are, it is so lovely to see what the neighbourhood is doing and I love being part of it. ❤️ You and yours stay safe and well. X
They are doing teddies in windows where my mum lives in Warwick so the kids can go on a bear hunt! Loved reading that story to my kids. My mum went a bit crazy and put teddies at all her windows....but she’s enjoying hearing the kids spit them in their walks. Must be so tough with small children right now. Love to everyone xx
Isn’t it just brilliant W&S? Tonight here is torrential downpours, very strong winds and more of the same tomorrow, so it will be a walk/run round the living room instead of teddy bear hunting outside. You stay safe too 🥰
Thank you, we have beautiful sunshine and granddaughters 17 birthday so our essential exercise will be to walk round and drop things on the doorstep for her
Hope you enjoyed the sunshine, sorry you missed granddaughters 17th though. We have more awful weather here this morning, so off shortly to jog along to a video, might put some teddies on top of the TV too. 😊
You must be coming up to winter, we are spring with summer to look forward to, enjoy your jog to video. How are things in your country? here it’s getting quieter outside, we saw a few cars and people when we went for our walk this morning and ran parts of it, I’m working the weekend but will walk to work and back
Very quiet here, families mainly out in the neighbourhood but very few cars on the road anywhere, our street is usually a bit of a race track, but the hoons are staying in today👍Town is deserted as everything is shut and people are working from home, out here in the suburbs its only the pharmacy and the supermarket open, feels very odd. We have over 360 case of the virus but 🤞no deaths yet. Take care.
Hi lexi6 it's good to hear about all the positive messages people are leaving. I saw a large pebble painted blue put on a low wall with stay safe written on it when I went for my run yesterday. It's lovely to feel we are all looking out for each other & wishing everyone well. Keep safe & keep well everyone 😊
Hi Gaea, its so lovely to read about and see all the positive things people are doing during these challenging times. I love the blue pebble message and didn’t understand the meaning behind the painted rocks until I was told that you paint and hide rocks as a random act of kindness, to bring a smile to someone and pass it on. Now that is lovely ❤️ Keep safe and well x
