I decided to do 5km this morning, but 10 minutes in it just didn’t feel right, I’d set out a little later than usual, it was hot and I couldn’t find any shade, but I was determind to enjoy the gorgeous weather before daylight savings ends for us soon. After just over 3km I gave up, wasn’t enjoying it. All I can say is it was still a run. After shower and lunch, decided to take the dogs for a walk to Colonial (ahem) Knob, awful name isn’t it? The Maori name Rangituhi which translates as sky glow is so much nicer. It was just beautiful there with loads of shade, the Tuis birdsong even managed to drown out the cicadas. There are quite a few tracks and one day I might attempt the summit 468m up, with spectacular views to the north, Mount Taranaki and to the south, Kaikoura ranges, without the dogs though, their little legs wouldn’t cope actually I’m not sure mine would, although my fitness has improved, another reason to thank C25k. I had brief thoughts of maybe trying to get some hill running practice on the track some time but when we had to step aside twice for very quiet mountain bikers, decided that wasn’t a good idea (because of all the walkers they are allowed to ride up to the summit but not down), so question where do they all go when they get to the top? Watch this space I need to know.
Tomorrow night we are heading off to my step daughters to celebrate Mabon and the Autumn Equinox and in light of the horrific events in Christchurch, I feel so grateful and thankful for what I have. Happy running adventures for everyone. Kia Kaha ❤️ X

It was Saartjie, can’t wait to do it again without the dogs. This place is two minutes drive from home and I can’t believe I’ve never walked it before!
Thanks Jell it was lovely up there its been an emotional week for us over here, but I’m so grateful that I am able to go out and have a rotten run. I have nothing to complain about x
😂😂 I know, I know do they have to wheel their bikes all the way down? Blimey! where’s the fun in that? I will make it my mission to find out. There is a place called Adrenalin Forest up there with a flying fox 🤔 I will report back 🚲
Such a pretty place to find some tranquility- so important to be able to find that after all the nastiness that has been going on in the world. My thoughts go out to all who have been affected 💕
Thanks Saska it is hard to believe how peaceful it was considering the rubbish dump is next door to one of the track entrances, but it was so quiet except for the birds and insects. ❤️
Thanks Dexy, I’ve been quite lucky in that I haven’t had many bad ones, I had to walk for a minute in that one before I gave up, but decided to turn it into a positive and pretend I was practising jeffing 🙂
Thanks Cheeky and you’re right I’m off the couch and running 3k is a win. Christchurch looks like a giant flower garden, people are still leaving flowers and paying tributes. I hope the love and care shown each other at this sad, sad time continues ❤️❤️
😂 such an imaginative name eh? I can’t wait to explore it Bridget. Can’t believe I was unaware how beautiful it is all these years, the next track to walk is 2.2km around another reservoir. I feel a photo coming on. 🙂
