I'm still here and I'm still trying and although I have fallen behind a bit I'm confident I will make it to 1 hour in the not too distant future and on to 10k sometime before the end of this year. I did an amazing 5k on Saturday and knocked 5 minutes from my PB from 41 Minutes down to 36 so something is going on!
I am still going! But struggling tbh! I keep on getting pins and needles in my left foot at around 4k. I have been trying to adjust my posture and on my 8k on Sunday I had to stop running to make it go away at 4k and then ran another 4k when it started to come back! It is very odd and I am not sure why it is happening! I have tried different lace set ups and massage my calves once warmed up to try and get the flow going on, and that helps, but I just wish it would stop!
I am starting the strength and flex programme today, so hope that will help build strength in my other muscles and may help. My glutes are a bit sore so I wonder if they have not been firing and that may have made the difference. My 10k run has been postponed and that has not helped my motivation, but has at least given me a bit more time to try and get this sorted.
I am also a little behind in the programme and I am repeating the 8k weeks until I feel a bit more comfortable with it.
Am still on track to complete the magic 10 challenge (well 60 minutes for me) but the weather hasn’t been great and I did wimp out yesterday💨🌫🌨☔️ If I’m out running and the weather changes it’s ok but to set off in the pouring rain seems different somehow so I stayed in lol. Nothing for it but to get out there today and over the weekend to get the 20 minute and 55 minute runs done. As I seem to do, I’ll see how I feel once I’ve set off and decide en-route how long I’ll keep going for. Really excited to be achieving week on week 😄
Today I ran for 60 minutes. I should really have been doing 55 but I decided this morning that given it was a beautiful day I was going to do the hour. I felt like I was taking it easy but somehow I managed 8.46 km in the time with my Garmin telling me I ran my fastest ever 1km, 5km and mile. I’m not quite sure I believe it - but I’ll take it. Thank you ju-ju for cheering me on and getting me back to running longer and further x
