Interesting - thanks for posting. One thing that concerns me is reading in the news of total lockdowns in some countries with people only allowed outdoors for essential purposes. I hope it does not come to that in the UK.

If the government did that they would have a mutiny on their hands. I just don’t see how our society could have that kind of lockdown enforced...

It's how the PRC managed to contain things, but I don't see it happening here. Difference between a "social" culture and "individualistic" one. Advantages and disadvantages to both of course.

Thankfully, RnA can't run even as slowly as I do so I Think lone runners will be pretty safe ;)

I certainly hope it wouldn't be contemplated here, but Italy seems to have acted similarly and I read Spain may follow suit, which is a little closer to home.

If it saved 40 percent of the population being infected I personally would put that ahead of my own temporary inconvenience, but as it is until they put me in charge all I have control over is my individual response :)

And if they DO put me in charge, probably be even more messed up than it is now 😂

Thanks for posting!

But can all please note that it is still important not to touch your face with unwashed hands, and I'd like to stress that anyone who is in one of the vulnerable categories (or who is in close contact with a vulnerable person) should probably think twice about attending gyms.

Got to agree with you. Handwashing will be what makes the difference, perhaps I'm already a bit obsessive as I work in an isolation ward.

That said I have had to buy a hair band thingy to supplement my usual hair up and off collar, as I have noticed that I often seem to be pushing my hair out of my face. MUST be more aware if these subconscious hand to face movements .

Thank you so much for posting. Really great advice. It’s becoming very scary now. Governments need to be acting faster. Indoor human contact has to be kept to a minimum. Schools, colleges, Pubs, night clubs, cafes, cinemas shopping centres etc need to be closed now.

I agree that outdoor exercise is safe. But I worry that people will be forced to to be quarantined at home before too long.

Lockdown could go on forever, also hearing that the Coronavirus is expected to peak in June!

It’s frightening, we are only seeing the start, an increase from 11 deaths in the UK to 21 deaths over night. Countries which closed their boarders and locked the country down early are coming out the other side already. My biggest fear is that we are just 2 weeks behind Italy and Spain. Cheltenham should have been cancelled, that was madness. It’s a very worrying time.

The idea is to work to keep the numbers of cases down to a more manageable level, so having them peak in a few months time helps to achieve this. It is also preferable because this is the time when the health services is under the least pressure. This action is called 'flattening the curve':
