My average day in a nutshell...

Get up. mental battle about whether or not to go for a run. Get into kit without giving oneself a chance to change ones mind. Go for run. Dislike run. Finish run. Feel instant relief.

Get home. Shower, change, have cup of tea. Sit down and analyse run for an hour on Garmin / strava.

Spend rest of day planning next run and thinking about next run.

Can anyone else relate? 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

I did a 5k with cadence drills today 🤢 Not fun, but I’m trying to ‘mix up’ my training a bit.

You missed the bit out about spending hours reading the posts on this forum, lol! But yes, I can totally relate 😁

in reply to Wenderwoo

Very true wenderwoo. An embarrassing amount of time on this forum and others 😅

🤣🤣 I love your planning enthusiasm then doubts. I love numbers and all the data on garmin satisfies my needs outlying. But having started hills in January I found myself drawing a bar graph representing the heights run up on each run

in reply to Grannyhugs

Oh wow I’m very impressed grannyhugs! I must admit I’m not great with numbers, so I take my hat off to you 👍🏼😊

My post run regime is similar, but I take less time over it and I often add a flat white and triple chocolate brownie at the handily placed cafe! A quick natter with fellow customers and friendly staff really helps the wind down process 😋🍪☕️👍

Sounds perfect beachcomber 😊

Yes, I can definitely relate to this! Especially Strava and Garmin. If the run isn't there it didn't happen. The anticipation of a good time. Looking slow on Strava if you're doing intervals. Realising I am slow! 🤣

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a cadence drill Rhedeg? Off for a run later, new route. Hoping for less hills though🤣 Happy running👍🏻

in reply to Oldlady57

Not ignorance Oldlady57 😊 It’s where you run hard for 20 seconds then have 40 seconds recovery in between times by 8 (in my case) HTH. Enjoy your run ☺️

Thank goodness it’s not just me! Except I get back have my porridge and cuppa while analysing my run for an hour (should actually be answering work emails - self employed and work from home). Then I jump in shower. By the time I do actually start my work it’s getting on for 10 o’clock!! Finnish my work then back to analysing run (and previous runs) and planning next one(s)!!! If I am not analysing or planning I am looking at kit that don’t even need!!!

in reply to runningnanny

Haha I’m glad it’s not just me too! This running malarkey does get in the way doesn’t it 😉

Another one you missed is reading and replying to posts on this forum, at 1.10am, with your head under the covers, so as not to disturb your snoozing hubby. I'm wide awake and thinking about my 10k race on Sunday! I need to sleep. Sweet dreams 😊
