What’s the most effective way to get from 5 to 10k?

I’ve got one more run in the c25k programme. Truth be told I’m already running 6k. I want to get to 10k - any tips on how to bridge the gap? Thanks.

I kept on with 2x5k runs per week and then extended my third run by 1k each week and before I knew it, I was running 1x10k and 2x5k per week. You’ll get such a buzz when you get there.

Thanks. I have been extending my distances, but having an issue increasing my speed!

If you're already achieving 6k in 30 mins then you have no issue with speed. Just be careful not to push too hard too soon...👍🏻

I’ve recently started a Garmin coach plan to get me, gently, to 10k. I find it keeps me motivated.

I don’t know and there are a lot of answers already i just want to say that i’m slowly increasing without trying both distance and speed

Have fun

I just kept adding 5 more minutes on to the end of my runs when I felt it was doable and they soon passed the 10k mark.

I consolidated for a few weeks, then mixed it up a bit. Shorter fast runs, hill runs and pushing a bit further once a week. The rule of thumb is no more than 10% increase at a time.

Good luck
