A beautiful day here. Dry and sunny. My first run of the week. Magic 10 week 2 - longest run first. Get it over with. Decided I was going to slow down - I keep seeing this piece of advice and am currently reading Why Running Matters. The author seems to offer the same advice to himself. I started out on my walk with a podcast but decided that this wouldn't cut the mustard so I put Reggae music on my Spotify as Wenderwoo did a couple of weeks ago and set off. The reggae didn't do it for me unfortunately so I asked my Google friend to open my OldiesbutGoodies playlist. She must've misheard. She opened someone else's 🙄 It was fine but not as inspiring/uplifting as mine so I felt like I just couldn't get into a regular pace. My Runkeeper was updating me on my pace which was getting faster and as I turned at the halfway stage I just thought 'I'm just going to go for it'. I was tired - no doubt. I actually thought how much I disliked running but as my doctor told me 'RUNNING IS GOOD FOR YOU' oh! I believe it! Not one of my finest runs but Runkeeper was proud of me 😅 When I got home my ankle was sore (ligament problem from 18 months ago) I put ice on it (Wenderwoo again!) and it did feel better afterwards. This is my longest run ever so I'm pleased about that. Who'd have thought it? 6k! Not sure now whether to do the 15 minute run next to possibly get a feel good factor or opt for the 30 🤔 I'm also going to have a yoghurt and half a banana before I run next time - I feel as though I could do with a bit more energy. Perhaps that'll do the trick.
Wishing you all a happy running week 🏃♀️

Great run and cracking speed. Glad you had good weather for it, makes all the difference but I could send some snow your way if you feel you’re missing out 🤣 happy running
Thanks! Oh my doctor definitely gets it! I had just started the C25K and was saying that my knees were aching and she said Running Is good for you and I tried three times to put obstacles in my way and she just kept repeating it. So I believed her! And here I am two years later running 6k ☺
Thank you! I've just been looking back at my last few runs and realise that I've reduced my time. And there I was at the beginning telling myself I was going to slow down! I'm just too competitive for my own good.
Ha ha, when it's just me I lose my competitive edge but at parkrun... now that's a different story... my pb is over 6 minute faster than my usual evening 5k plod by myself.
All the hard work is obviously paying off and you're naturally getting faster 👍
