Hi all, i hope you’re all ok and survived the windy weather, sleet or snow of January?
Now I know we all make resolutions and promises to ourselves in the new year and hopefully we stick to them, never mind if you didn’t, rules are there to be broken sometimes!! As some of you may remember, my last post was about a month ago when i said I had signed up for RED January?? Well, I have survived it! When I first signed up for it I was a bit apprehensive as running every day isn’t something to be taken lightly, you have to be good, eating and drinking the right things to fuel your run the following day but I stuck to that too, I had a couple of glasses of wine a couple of times but thankfully they didn’t affect my performance! From the first run I thought to myself that I would definitely have to stick to shortish runs so to avoid injury or fatigue, that was my plan, I would just cover 3k with the occasional 5k thrown in and that’s exactly what i’ve done...I’ve done some intervals, I’ve done full on runs, I’ve run uphill, I’ve run downhill, I’ve run in parks, i’ve run along the main roads, the canal you name it, i’ve run it because you have to mix up your running otherwise it will get monotonous, I’m sure the people in my town are going to notice that i’m not running every day, there i was in my pink hi-viz, every day, pounding the pavements ....I’m going to miss running everyday, I’ve enjoyed the challenge and have proved to myself that anything is possible if you put your mind to it...running is such a big part of my life...I don’t run massive distances, infact I’m a bit worried that I might not manage a 10k ever again because it’s been so long but I will give it a dam good go!! Whatever you are trying to achieve with your running, all i can tell you is never give up, you are a runner and you can build on what you’ve done so far...
When i did my last run last night I wanted to finish with a 5k, I actually did Week 9 run 3 and I took Mr Smooth with me. When my watch vibrated for the 5th time I stopped, walked for a few minutes to my house, sat on the front steps and smiled to myself as the icy wind cooled me down...I’ve done it, me...I’ve run everyday, just like I said i would...who’d have thought it?? I really am a runner and even after almost 3 years of running it’s times like this that cement it for me..It doesn’t matter how far you run, what matters is that you get out there, your determination and inner strength takes over and you just keep going. What a fantastic start to the year I’ve had...you see, when you start this wonderful thing we call running you never know where it will take you or what surprises lay in store for you as you travel along your journey...keep on keeping on everyone, you’re all doing brilliantly xxx

Wow with sparkles what an achievement well done MummyC
Fantastic job! Of course you're a runner! Can't believe you even thought that 🤣😘
What I want to know, is did you wash your kit every day? Did you let it pile up... or did you rewear some bits... it's always such a pain getting gear clean all the time. I feel like every other day is bad enough for that...
Thanks GoGo_JoJo ...there’s always an element of doubt in my head..especially when i’m overtaken!!
Well, as for the washing, I do rewear my running pants, i run in them 3 times before they go in the wash but my tops are always clean on....having 3 kids means my washer is on nearly 24/7 so my running kit makes no difference and I have been wearing it most days so my contribution to the daily wash has actually gone down! x
I'm toying with a RED but mostly treadmill as they will have to be short ones due to still being in recovery mode... and that way I can just go bra/pants 🤣👍🏻
thanks Deals1 ...i was a bit nervous too because i’d announced it on here and felt i couldn’t let everyone down but i have really enjoyed it...nothing to be scared of x
Yippee! Well done for completing the RED January challenge MummyCav superb effort!
I once ran every other day for a month and I enjoyed that, but I can imagine running every day takes a lot of organisation and determination. It's been really wet and cold too!
Your fitness will be through the roof, especially with the intervals you have been running...
I hope you have a little rest period before going out again, but look forward to seeing how much difference this month has made to your stamina.
Whoop whoop! A little celebration is called for! 😊xxx
Thank you Bluebirdrunner , you are forever cheering me on...I honestly don’t think i could do anything like this without the encouragement of my running buddies...you’re all like an extended family!! Even when i’m not doing a challenge and i get doubts about myself as a runner I just have to look in here and i see and hear encouragement all the time...we make a wonderful forum xx
Lovely inspiring post Mummycav - well done on your RED January! That's a great achievement and one I have contemplated on occasion but never had the courage to go through with!👏💪🙂
You should def try it Sandraj39 ...I was worried that I might be letting myself in for a disappointment but after the first week I knew I was going to do it x
Amazing MC!! Really well done, that takes some doing, I'm exhausted just reading it! Glad that you enjoyed it too and it didn't become a drag. Great start to 2020!xx
Thanks Fishypieface , I think because I kept most of the runs to 3k and did some interval work it stopped it becoming a drag, I am looking forward to daylight running again though!! X
Fantastic.... you’ve done so well. Don’t you find it’s so much easier to work out when you are going in the day rather than if? That’s why I run everyday as it works out so much simpler xx
Thanks ju-ju- ...it’s people like you that inspire me to take on these challenges, like this one and my ‘medal a month’ last year, you have no idea what effect you’re having on people and what a difference you make xx
Yes, I just went out at teatime once Id got everyone home, so simple xx
Well done MC on you great achievement ! Go girl go!👏👏🏃♀️🏃♀️🤗🤗
Well done - that really is an amazing achievement & shows great determination as well as fitness. 👏🎉 I bet it's set you up well for the rest of the year. 🙂
I think you and I must have started C25k about the same time as my third anniversary is only a couple of weeks away. I haven’t posted much recently but read the forum most days.
... anyway, less about me. You’re an inspiration to us all and I know you’ll be running for many more years. Hope you celebrated in style!🍾
