I haven’t posted much in recent months. Some gung-ho messages about coming back from the IC but it hasn’t been that easy.
Visits to physios and osteopath diagnosed the sacroiliac problem. I need to build up my glutes and abs to support that pesky joint. My Parkrun times have been 10 minutes slower than usual.
After the last one, I faced my fears and got on the scales for the first time in 4 months to find out that I have been, effectively, running around carrying an extra half bag of coal. All due to those exceptional pints of beer, exceptional sandwiches, exceptional portions of chips and all the rest of those comforts that can come with the IC.
Well, the solution’s in my hands. Watch this space!

I was running all over Christmas. 6 parkruns, 1 x 5K road race and some other training runs. I was not even on the IC, but due to too much exceptional glasses of wine, beer, cheeses and chocolates I managed to gain 10 lbs in weight. It’s coming back off again now.
Best wishes to you for your recovery. I hope get it resolved soon.
Oh I’m with you on this. Returned to c25k after 4 months on ic, more lardy than before and then a cold at Christmas that needed some chocolates to make it better! 😂 Its hard work but you’ll get there for sure. Best foot forwards etc and enjoy every bit of progress.
Hi Heavyfoot...tell me about it this same time last year I started C25K carrying 3 stone more than I do re starting it again this week. I think that weight took a real toll on my legs and back and when you think of it you just think about running carrying an actual 3 stone child it puts it all into perspective. So good luck vibes and looking forward to progress reports
Really good luck to you on this. It is sobering to think of it as carrying a 3 stone child or a bag of coal around. The only good news is that our muscles have been getting stronger moving the extra weight around, and when we lose this weight we'll be running like gazelles !!!
