First run of the year with my Canicross Plodding group, it was lovely to see them all.
We actually started today’s run from the other side of the ‘Ring’ I ran an out an back to, last week - it is a lot steeper from the other side! - and on the way back we ran down a path that I was tempted to explore last week. I’m glad I didn’t, as it didn’t do what I expected it to do at all.
After yesterday’s intervals the uphills began to really catch up with me soon after the halfway mark - I keep saying I need to work on my glutes, and today really proved it. But the views were worth it, you can see for miles, and with the sun shining on the frost it all looked very beautiful.
I managed to accidentally stop my new Garmin at the top of the last hill before our return to the cars, but it was the same path we ran up at the beginning. I’ve now looked up how to lock it so I’ll be practicing with that during the week.
I’m planning to take next week a bit easy as I’m running with Merlin in a local event next weekend:
I’ll be leading a beginner run tomorrow, which will count as my recovery run.
Then I’ll do intervals as per HM plan on Wednesday, and have 2 proper rest days ready for Saturday’s 15k.
