Southsea seafront provided its customary accompaniment for my 100th Parkrun this morning - a 15 mph south-westerly gusting up to 25, and pretty damn chilly - but at least it stayed dry. We had hoped that Oldgirlruns choosing to volunteer would take the sting out of the wind (her running does seem to attract the gales) but no such luck this time. Our usual Southsea crew including Mr and Mrs Coddfish was augmented by cheekychipmunks (all the way from Bristol) and JonathanP (all the way from Portsmouth Lakeside) as part of a 587-strong cast of runners, not to mention 25 volunteers. One of whom put any tendency to false pride on my achievement firmly in its place, as she clocked up her 300th appearance on the volunteer roster. Not on this forum as far as I know, but thanks anyway Katherine.
Given a briskish 10k on Thursday and the wind the way it was, there was no point in busting any guts in search of glory, so we mostly ran in convoy until Dexy5 declared a sprint finish with 250m to go, which she and I ran in 1'25" (5'40"/k pace, against a gentle run average of 7'08") to complete in 35'51". But both our visitors must be congratulated for recording Southsea PBs despite the prevailing conditions.
On completion, we were very happy to retire to our usual haunt for a celebratory breakfast and the obligatory ex-V RB pic. When shall we seven meet again? All being well, in the mountains (well, big hills) of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, 13 miles up the A3, for their parkrun on 15th Feb. Brunhilda will be worn (pre-run only) and be delighted to meet any other forum members who want to take on the challenge of a run towards the top of the elevation charts. Onward and (definitely) upwards!!

Well done UpTheStanley on your 100th parkrun, Iβm only at 64, so have a way to go yet. Huge congratulations to you and well done to all the VRBβs for their support and comradeship. I love the pic, you all look great in your milestone T-Shirts. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
The feller and I are hoping to do Ashton Court again soon. I only come to Bristol about once a month but it would be fun to meet a VRB - if you arenβt Parkrun touring! I still like the idea of asking people if they are cheeky! Although I suspect that is you, third from the right in red? πΏ
Brilliant ktsok, let me know when you intend to come and Iβll be there. I canβt do Feb 15th (tourism!) and Iβm away on hols March 7th. Otherwise Iβm flexi. And yes thatβs me - the one with the buff. π
Just got home UTS. What a fun morning as ever. The wind was ..... windy, π¨π¨ especially hitting a couple of walls of gustiness on the return leg. Even so, I was pleasantly surprised that I ran over a minute quicker than last time I visited, and did indeed run a Southsea PR PB. Bonus. π
So congratulations on your 100th! I was happy to be there for it, and breakfast was very welcome and well deserved too. π
See you all in just over a monthβs time at QE Park. Itβs going to be a toughie, but do we care? No way, weβre HUers and we tackle anything! πͺππββοΈππ
I hope you didnβt mind my surge at the end , or maybe thatβs what spurred you on to a PB. Well done to Mr Coddfish for sticking with you to the end. ππ
Congratulations UTS on your π― parkrun. Lovely to see you all looking so bright! Sorry I couldnβt be there in person but I ran with you in spirit at Lincoln. Probably the one and only time I will ever run 5k faster than you πππ
Congratulations on your 100th parkrun, UpTheStanley! And what fine company you had, too. π Well done on completing it in what sounds like rather challenging conditions π¨.
Great to join you and the usual suspects to celebrate the occasion UTS!
Just one minor correction - not a Southsea PB for me (unsurprisingly given that wind on the return leg) but my first sub-30 PR since my injury - 29.57 Garmin although 30.01(grrr!) official.
Big congratulations UTS! It's a brilliant achievement! Hoping to join you in the 100 club later in the year π€ Great to see you all together, big FOMO on this and Queen Elizabeth but we'll be together again soon I'm sure π
