I’m after a bit of advice please. I prefer running to audiobooks rather than music. I currently have a Garmin forerunner 35 which works just fine, but my iphone is huge and would rather not take it with me when running - but need it for my audiobook. I’ve been looking at Apple watches as I know you can use the audible app on those, but has anyone been able to get audiobooks onto a Garmin watch? I was thinking the music storage versions might work, but can’t seem to find an answer regarding audible. Any disadvantage in getting an Apple Watch otherwise?
Thank you!

It’s funny isn’t it, a few years ago the trend for phones was to get smaller, then smart phones came along and since then the trend is larger and larger screens which means larger phones. I had an iPhone 5 for over 6 years and recently got an iPhone 8. Thankfully it still fits in my running belt. I have read loads of reviews on here from people whom were disappointed with their apple watches and bought a Garmin instead. Perhaps instead try to invest in a good running belt which will comfortably hold your phone.
Its annoying isn't it, technology is supposed to make things easier not more difficult... I also love listening to audio books while I'm running but don't want to carry my phone, I now convert any audio books I want to listen to mp3 format and put them on my old battered mp3 player. It's a bit of a faff but solves the problem 😊
The garmin vivosmart does a music version but I don’t know if that can do podcasts too. But Oldgirlruns gave me a copy of Women’s Running for Christmas and there’s a best accessory called the buddy pouch XL which fits a big phone in. It’s not on a belt so I think attaches to the waistband of your leggings and has excellent reviews. £26 the buddy pouch.co.uk . I think Hidden has one too.
Disadvantage of Apple Watch? Overpriced. In terms of iPhone and running l solved that problem early on. I simply run by holding it in my hand. That way l change the songs and volume and l ran the entire marathon like that. Convenient? I dunno but l know that pro athletes run naked and seem alright with that.
Yeah, iPhones can be chunky, Samsung even more so but realistically you don't need any of it anyway. May as well run with a laptop. We all got trapped into the latest gear/music/headphone business in order to run a few miles. When l started the next marathon preps l ditched most of it and would only run with the phone when galloping through interval runs. The accent now falls on shoes/insoles and the cheapest watch that tells heart rate. The rest is simply the reason why l do this, and that's pure running.
Audible is not available on Garmin IQ store atm - just checked. But Deezer can be downloaded and you can listen podcasts or music and other music apps but don't know of they have podcasts.
