Just a short update for my friends. The reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I thought the image might raise a laugh, I couldn't find any running tips that you haven't seen already.
I am having fun, and still running 2 or 3 times a week, usually with Keswick Parkrun as the climax. Still about 30 minutes for the 5Km, not especially concerned with going any faster or further right now. I'm working on enjoying the whole experience.
I'm reading 'The Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing' by Dr Phil Maffetone (amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07... and learning a lot about developing endurance. I'm reading other stuff too, but I won't bore you with the Theology.
I hope you are all having fun, running and in other things. Much love to you all, and...
Happy New Year - Happy New Decade.

Happy New year and decade to you TOF, I am glad to know that you are still enjoying your running and especially at Keswick Parkrun which you now have ran over 50, I hope you you now have your 50 T shirt, I ordered a Vitality 5K Parkrun T shirt on Friday and they said it will be delivered on Tuesday 31st December.
I am still running as well, usually twice a week, I have ran 14 Parkruns this year, my PB is 30.55, given up all hope on running a sub 30 minute 5k, just this afternoon I ran a 5K in 33.31, which is OK but way off being sub 30 minutes.
I've given up PBs, I am now concentrating on the enjoyment. I'm sure I could run under 30 for the Keswick Parkrun, but it is 5 dead flat 1Km laps until they finish our old path's refurbishment in the autumn.
I felt quite proud this week when I finished the run in 32 mins, and then went to do a pastoral visit with my heart rate down to 85 from 150 at the finish... I had warned them about my attire!
Thank you for your reply TOF, if I get a PB it will be at the flatter Parkrun I go to, not the one with the hills, you are quite correct in just going out and enjoying the runs, but I think running a 5K in five laps could cause some problems.
Have you done whinlatter parkrun? A few of us in our club are going to try it one Saturday since itβs supposed to be the toughest in the country. Good luck for next year - goad youβre still running!
Good to hear from you TOF. So you have turned away from the dark side for a while π (pursuit of pbs) and focussed on quality. I have been working on hills and building up distance again; gradually moving away from the nursery! Time to think about Park Runs and running with others again though. Mixing it up keeps things interesting ! Happy 2020 to you.
Lovely to hear from you theoldfellow, and so glad that you are enjoying your running. Interesting that you are now mixing running with your work. I am standing here in my running gear procrastinating but I know it will be great once I get there. Happy New Year to you.
Another of those startle the family as I unexpectedly laugh out loud moments!
Glad to hear you are enjoying your running - you are quite right!πYou need to talk to Mr E!!
I have suggested that he focuses on enjoying his running rather than reflect on his speed dropping off as he gets older. ( He still can do a sub 24 min Parkrun at the age of 65, & sadly remembers when he could do sub 19mins. ππ Meanwhile I would be with thrilled with a sub 40 mins. π...
