Yay - It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas (holidays).

Finally the Christmas holidays are here and my first treat to myself is to run and then to check in here to my favourite forum ๐Ÿ˜.

Hectic term, rubbish weather (mud ๐Ÿ™„) and a cold that just keeps on giving have conspired to seriously curtail my running since mid November.

However it's the Christmas Holidays now and I'm determined to complete a mini streak like I did last year. This means running everyday of my 17 day holiday (I'm a teacher I honestly deserve it). Most runs will be short, pacy 2-3k jaunts but I'm hoping to put in a few lovely leisurely long runs too. (And please don't worry I'll be putting in lots of long warm up walks and loads of stretching along the way).

Last year this really helped me 'reset' my running habits for the new year and I'm hoping for the same again.

So this morning despite the rain, a very annoying cold and last night's work do I've put in my first run!

Happy Christmas running everyone! โ˜บ๏ธ

Hi Deb

Great idea! (The mini streak). It is hard going sometimes to run at this time of year (I am sick of mud!), but you proved it can be done getting out this morning despite rain, late night, lingering cold, so am sure you will manage it. :-) I am looking forward to a fair few Christmas runs myself โ€“ don't know how I survived the festive season before I started running, it is all too easy to spend the holidays sitting on the couch and you feel so rubbish for it! However, an early morning run sets you up for the day and you don't feel so lazy for laying on the sofa in the afternoon watching films. Love it.

Merry Christmas running to you too.

Couldn't agree more. I felt really good last Christmas - much more energy than usual. Will be very glad to shake this cold though!

Merry Christmas Deb. Enjoy your daily runs, fast or slow, and make time to relax after your hectic year.

Hereโ€™s to a fab 2020 of running too. โค๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

As an ex teacher why opted for very early retirement rather than the stresses of the job you definitely deserve these holidays. Enjoy each run however long and wherever it takes you. Happy running

Ooh early retirement sounds lovely. I just wish I could find a way of working where it doesn't take over! The running definitely helps!

I have 2 teachers in early 30s as neighbours. Both opted for 3 day week and they are living the life, no regrets. Mind you, also no children. Decide whether you live to work or work to live then take action. I stopped when my love of the job no longer outweighed the bureaucracy and when too many close friends and colleagues died an early death in their 50s and 60s. Happy running

Happy Christmas. Iโ€™ve been running all year, I lost 2 stone and was really working on improving my fitness and pace. However I have been taking my foot off the pedal over the last month in particular. I can feel it in myself. Iโ€™ve put on 6 lbs and slowed down. Like you Iโ€™m going to increase my running over Christmas. Iโ€™m doing my local parkrun tomorrow morning, parkrun on Christmas morning and a 5K road race on the 27th followed by parkrun the following morning, a parkrun double on New Years Day and a run or two in between.

Enjoy your time off.

Wow that sounds like a Christmas schedule and a half! Great work on the weight loss and fitness though.

I'm be just be mooching along in comparison - but still having fun.

I graduated C25K in November a couple of years ago and always find Oct, Nov and Dec the most difficult time to be motivated. It's a combination of my busiest time of year, darker nights and mud I think.!

Enjoy your Christmas running and good luck with the road race.

Thank you. Oh wow, I struggled at parkrun this morning. Had to take 3 walking breaks for the first time since last year. I was just exhausted after work this week. But great to kick off the Christmas running. 31:08 , it was my 59th parkrun.

It feels good to be back - it's amazing what a couple of days without work and two day light runs can have ๐Ÿ˜Š. Now I just have to sort out the tree ๐ŸŽ„!
