I'm lucky to live so close to the beautiful reservoirs in Sheffield. So today I drove out to one of my favourite spots called Riverlin Reservoir. This is somewhere that I used to go as a child with my family and later as a teenager with my friends for walks and picnics. I knew before I set off that it was a steep route to the top of Redmires, but just thought that if I needed to walk, then I would 😏
Well I'm happy to say that I didn't need to walk and when I got to the top I felt like I wanted to run a bit further on the flat before I came back down, so I did 😊
I must say that I was so happy that I'd achieved such a climb that a found myself laughing on the way down 😀 and on more than one occasion I was flapping my arms about! Not sure if I was trying to keep my balance or trying to fly ✈️🤣
I was so overwhelmed by this run that I cried at the bottom! 😪
Happy Happy Happy 😍 I LOVE RUNNING ❤️

Some good routes. I live on the edge of town and can walk or run everywhere I head out on the trails away from traffic. Bit crappy this weather though so it’s road running mostly.
WOWZERS?!!! That looks like Canada or somewhere...not Yorkshire...I know it's beautiful but flippin eck?!!
I am not surprised that you found yourself in tears...you sounds truly overwhelmed...and why not? what you're doing, what you've achieved and where you were running is all amazing...I LOVE RUNNING TOO!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
p.s...flapping your arms around is good...I was having my own little disco at the side of the canal last week!!! what are we like?!! x
Ah, making me nostalgic for Sheffield, somewhere I visit several times a year. I think Sheffield is great so am quite jealous! My niece lives quite close to the children’s playground on the Rivelin Valley. I have often walked along the river bank there when visiting, as we usually end up walking their dogs there. I have occasionally run there too. It’s a lovely area at all times of year. I also like the set of paths that follow Porter Brook out beyond Endcliffe Park (also useful dog walking and running territory). All of them quite straight forward so long as you stay at the water level (I know Redmires is on much higher ground, I have been there but approaching it from the top.). I guess I have to include a shout out for Sheffield Hallam parkrun at Endcliffe Park, which I have managed to coincide with a visit a couple of times.
Have a look on Google maps where Rivelin Reservoir is and follow the route up through Wyming Brook Nature Reserve to the Three Merry Lads and then along to Redmires (and back!) 😊 I've just checked it and it says 6.27k one way! 12.54k!!! Wow! Didn't realise it was that far!
I haven't done Endcliffe Parkrun yet, but I have a friend who does it regularly! He loves it!
I've run from Endcliffe Park through Forge Dam to Porter Brook and on to the Mayfield Alpaca Centre a few times though! Tough terrain in parts, but the views are stunning! 😍
I know the Redmires area, have been in the Three Merry Lads, just hadn’t joined it all together. I am in the area maybe 3 or 4 times a year. My favourite running, although it involves taking the car further, is the Monsal Trail. There’s also a nice 5k loop you can do round a reservoir near Bradfield that I like.
That run felt like the easiest run I've ever done! Very strange! I'm still on a high 😊
I disco danced and sang my way up most of the hills I ran up during C25K! 💃🏼 It's a good job I live in the sticks and no one can see me! 🤣xxx
Sounds like you had a beautiful run, gorgeous photo by the way. I have not got back to running yet but had a 2 and half hour walk to Forge Dam then to Mayfield Valley on Sunday. I'm hoping to run tomorrow though🤞
I see you're a "graduate10" now, that's brilliant. 😊
Cake. The magic word with me 😊. I walked 2 & half hours and didn't manage to do 10k! I blame my little legs, I seem to be going like the clappers then some tall person casually strolls past me and leaves me in their wake 😂. Well done on the 10k and loving the running xxx
