Legs aching?

My legs are aching most of the time since I upped my distances on the Magic Plan. I'm only 4 runs in. Is that normal or should I be taking more rest days?

Are you doing strengthening exercises as well? it may be that it’s just a bit of aching from running longer, you can slow down more and take a few e tea rest days though if it’s bothering you. Only you know if it’s just niggle aches or need more rest on those legs

The strengthening exercises are the reason the legs ache every day, not just after runs! Muscles are tired from all the work! I've done 80 consolidation runs of mostly 3-5k.

If the strengthening exercises are the problem do you not think you should stop doing them, or do less of them?

You might be doing to much so try an extra rest day per week, see how it goes.

Also, are you stretching before and after you run?

I'd agree with Hidden you are trying to do too much. If you feel you have to do something every day then add some relaxing yoga. Otherwise just stretch your week out longer so not so intense.

It sounds to me like your legs may be tired and/or stiff? I always think resting and hot baths are good either way. I find after a few days of 'rest' they feel alot better. Listen to your body, if they dont improve perhaps seek some professional advice?

Are you still drinking 2-3 litres of water per day and not just on run days. Maybe try half the amount of strengthening exercises and do lots of walking it seems to help me and last but not least are you still stretching after EVERY run. Good luck 😊😊

Take things steady. Chill a bit. If the strengthening hurts then take an extra day after it

I do a yoga dvd at home and I love the thing. Beginners or an intermediate one. I’m often as stiff as a board and find it a great help. I bought it for after my first ever marathon as I couldn’t afford a post-marathon sports massage, which I was told would be essential. It was a fiver from the supermarket It was so good I bought his intermediate one. (Tamal Dodge) 👍
