Beginning the bridge to 10k soon

I graduated C25K in June (again) and after a stern telling-off from the nurse about my sugar levels I've cut down on my sugar intake and snacking. As a result, I have lost a couple of stone, so I'm finding it easier to keep up with running now. It turns out, you move faster with less weight to carry!

So I've been looking at Juju's magic 10k plan, and I think I'll give it a go. I've slipped down to running about 20 minutes at a time, so I'll need a couple of weeks to build back up to 30 minutes again before I start, but I'm excited to have a new goal!

Wish me luck ๐Ÿ€

Youโ€™ll love it. I did the time-building version first as I found that idea easier to imagine coping with, and then moved over to do the distance version. Nearly there.... Itโ€™s fun to have a bit of structure to keep things moving along. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘

I think I have been struggling a bit without the structure. I'm planning to do the time building too, as I'm not that quick, and I find time easier to regulate than distance. How far are you into it?

Your 5k time will improve just by building up to 10k ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ Hills also help.

Done 9k but want to do it again before I move on and weโ€™re away this week, so still a few runs to go! ๐Ÿ˜„

Great news, itโ€™s a fantastic plan, hope you enjoy it when you are ready to start. Well done cutting down on snacking and weight loss. It must make a lovely difference. Happy running

You're really turning things around, well done. The magic 10k program is fab - I'm doing it for the third time! The structure and the support of a group with the same goal is great for boosting motivation. Good luck!

Thanks! I might not do it in the 8 weeks, but I'll certainly give it a go. My only real obstacles are the weather (I now have a baseball cap to stop my glasses getting wet), and the possibility of illness (I work with small children). It's a challenge at this time of the year, but we're all in the same boat ๐Ÿ˜Š

The hard part will be keeping it up at the end of the programme ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Take as long as you need! You won't be the only one :) When I finished the first time, I started right back at week 1 again ๐Ÿ˜

Well done. Take it slowly on that long run each week and take as many rest days as you need. You can do the 3 runs in any order you like. Itโ€™s a brilliant plan.

Thanks. You see, that's my problem - I go off too fast and get shattered. I need to slow it down!

Great, very well done on the weight loss too.

A new goal helps to keep it interesting and at this time of year when it's not quite so inviting outside, we need all the help we can get...enjoy it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜ I do feel I need something to keep me going, because it's too easy to not go out as the nights draw in and the weather gets worse. I never thought I would be excited about the idea of working harder and running further!

I've just started Ju-ju's magic 10k too RuthMargaret and I'm doing week 1. Today I ran for 5.6k! I was over the moon at that to be honest! Broken the 5k barrier so the next run is 2.5 and I'm aiming to do that on Wednesday. I think the little short runs each week act as a motivator. Is there a parkrun near you? It's not for everyone but it makes light work of a regular 5k run! I'm sure you'll do brilliantly when you're ready to start.

Good luck - you got this! We do have a couple of parkrun fairly close, but Saturdays are always busy! We're getting one in my town next spring, so hopefully I'll be more inclined to go if it's on my doorstep!
