My favourite walk is now a run!

Yesterday morning, what was a 4.5 mile walk became a 4 mile run with a 5 minute walk before and after.

This was my ultimate ambition when I began C25K and it is deeply satisfying to me, and quite amazing that it has only taken a little over 2 months.

Of course, having reached this point I see it as just a stepping stone to 10K.

Thank you to C25K and this community. I doubt I could have done it without you.

Congratulations, running certainly changes your perception of old walking routes. Enjoy many more conversions from walk to run

Thank you - and for your support during my C25K journey!

It may seem strange but I don't expect to convert other walks. At the centre of this walk is a 2.5 mile circuit of an amenity area with beautiful views and always something interesting going on. If I add another lap of that I will be at 6.5 miles / 10K. If I can run do that 10K run 3 times a week and establish that as a regular habit I will be over the moon.

It's great when you convert a previous walking route to your now running route.

I also use one of my dog walking routes that takes me 35 minutes to walk but I can run it in 16-17 minutes.

I'm also like you in that I found this community support really great 😊😊

Thanks Buddy. Your posts are always so supportive - a credit to the forum. 👍

It feels like such an achievement to have reached this point; it is difficult to put into words. It is still a novelty at the moment. Even yesterday half a mile or so into the run I was asking myself did I really think I was going to be able to run for 4 miles!

It is an amazing achievement, I think so anyway. I honestly didn't think I would be able to run for 30 minutes non stop. But i kept reading all the posts as it really encouraged me. 😊😊

That's fabulous progress. It's funny how one goal leads to another, leads to another .... the running journey really is limitless.

Thank you. 😁 Running is new to me, and as I'm quite stocky, and overweight, and 62, I'm imagining that HMs and the like would be beyond me. But then I didn't think I'd be aiming for 10K by Christmas at the end of August when I began C25K.

I imagined 5k would be beyond me, then 10k, then 10 miles then HM ... I now say (and firmly believe 😂) I will never be able to run a marathon 😍

I don't know much about running, but I think that is a perfect answer. 😁💪
