Fabulous450 Is Back Out On An Emotional Run of Strength! 🏃🏽‍♀️❤️

Hi Runners

Well, it has been 5 days since I felt it wise to take a short break from running due to a tight hamstring.

I had a tinge of run rebel in the mix as I did my strength and flex exercises yesterday. ‘Right...I’m ready to run now’ was on my mind. I put in some extra strengthening 🏋🏽‍♀️and yoga 🧘🏽‍♂️to try to distract myself. But if I’m honest it didn’t work that well 🤫.

I said yesterday, that I might go out and try a little run tomorrow and that’s what I did. I was up early and found I have a cold sore 😱 ballooning. Ugggh....yep, it’s official, I’m pretty run down. But, I now have a choice to make. Give in to it or get out? So, I did my dynamic warm ups and then off I went. I just needed to get out in the quiet and cold. I had my head torch on ready, but light was just breaking, so I decided to leave it.

I couldn’t find my gloves 🧤 and my hands did get quite cold, but I didn’t care. Not today! I always keep them in the same place too! 🤪 I’ll find them later (I hope!) or check if one of my son’s has taken a fancy to them 🤨.

I ran today without any music 🎶, I kept intending to press play, but I was having a conversation with myself as I ran. Some of that was giving myself a good talking to. I could hear my breathing and really felt the appreciation of being able to take every stride as my feet touched the floor and kept on moving.

As I turn a corner, not too far from home, I hear a song pop up in my head that reminds me of my brother and I feel a comfort that I’m doing the right thing. After listening to my very own DJ for a bit and singing along in my head, I decide then to press play. Then an amazing song is in on the shuffle play! Feeling extra fuel, I’m running strong 💪🏽 (but not fast! 😆).

I get close to the door and “work out complete” comes through on the headphones. A 2.5k recovery run is done! ✅

But, then......another song comes on, this one is even more significant and I carry on walking past the door, as I know if I go indoors now, I’ll be too emotional if I go in. I walk on and listen and try not to embarrass myself out there 😭. It’s not an unhappy experience at all. It just felt like I had a big hug from above 🥰! My brother was the reason I started running and I know going for that run was the best thing I could have done today! I could hear his laughter as I remembered that. He’d be only too willing to be glorified for his encouragement 😂! The joker! 🤩

That was a mindful run! Nothing can beat it!! That was a very emotional, but happy run indeed! 🏃🏽‍♀️🎶🥰

I’m going to take the weekend off, carry on with my strength and flex and see how I go on Monday.

Happy running Runners! ❤️

Thanks so much Grannytobe! 🤗 I did find my strength and a real boost today. Funnily enough, it’s more about slowing down than speeding up! 😂❤️

Oh I know all about slowing down, in running it lets you go further and in life it gives you time to appreciate what’s around you. Cheers to slow 👌🏻💓

Thanks so much Sybilw! 🤗 Such a lovely jokey character he was, its hard not to miss that. He was a bit annoying too, because he was always looking for a laughing reaction. Try as you might, he was hard to ignore too! 😂❤️

That sounds like a very emotional run Fab. Sometimes, out of nowhere, we are back in the past with our memories and sometimes it’s painful and other times it’s joyful.

And doesn’t music trigger these memories like nothing else? Apart from smell perhaps.

I sympathise with you about the cold sore. I am a sufferer too but thankfully haven’t had one for years. And it’s usually when my immune system is shot. They make you feel just horrible, so don’t underestimate that you’re not 100% yet. So, extra well done to you for getting out and doing this one 🏃‍♀️💪🙂

Ah thanks Irishprincess!! 🤗 I can count on one hand the times I’ve had a cold sore 🤷🏽‍♀️😱. So that was a bit of a wake up to wind down this morning! I still felt the need to run even if a walk in between was needed. It was what I needed. Perfect!👌🏽❤️

Thanks so much SaskAlliecat! It certainly was an unexpected but lovely surprise! Perfect timing as I had recognised a need to do a little more self care this morning and after that run I’m going to be doing just that this weekend. Getting into the slow lane and just enjoy each day! 😁❤️

Gosh what an emotional run for you today but you clearly enjoyed it and totally made the right choice in laying off the music and listening to the mind. Just lovely. Memories are funny things, even the sad ones somehow can still feel good in a way. Go you 🤗

Ah thanks NewRunner4! 🤗 You’re so right! The emotion was so happy for me today because it was like he was here again if only for a short time. Like he just stopped by to say hello. And make me laugh, as always! ❤️

Aah thank you LE63! The trial run was so great and I’m going to rest up now and not push it at all. Hope all is going well for you too. Enjoy the walk with your sister at the weekend. A walk outdoors can be just as good as a run. I certainly benefited a lot from the walking part of today. 😉❤️

We've had a lot of flooding in Sheffield so hopefully it'll be ok by Sunday 🤞. Your post was so evocative, I felt I was there with you. ❤️

Thanks so much Ang! Yes, the music helps you with the pace. I did enjoy the slow run in silence and the timing of pressing play really couldn’t have been better 🤩❤️.

Thanks Deals1! 🤗 Yes, it was so different without the music, but I think I was trying not to get carried away by it and then overdo it. It was a good way to check in and see how I was feeling. Then it was all about music! 😂❤️
