Morning lovely runners, I hope you all had a great weekend, reading some of your posts certainly looks like you did. For those of you who are running in the dark I hope you are wearing your lights, reflectors, hi viz so that you're all staying safe??
So last night I started week 4 of my plan to improve my 10k speed, I had family round for Sunday dinner so things were too hectic to go any other time...it was dark, it was miserable, it was wet, the leaves were slippy, all these things were going through my mind as I pulled on my running pants and scrabbled about in the drawer looking for any lights I could find...my Son found one that shone a batman sign symbol, bless him, but I thought it best not to use that one in case people thought I'd really lost the plot!!!...so I took the dog round the block just to get myself out there to check out the weather situation. Those gremlins sure were on a mission trying to get me to get my jamas on and curl up in front of the roaring fire...NOPE, I'm running and that's that. So, after dropping the dog back home, off I went, into the dark...a nice leisurely 10 min warm up where I am allowed to either walk or run...I have had issues with my 'Sister' (I use that term very lightly) for the last 10 years, we don't speak and unfortunately she lives 10 doors away from me so sometimes I have no choice but to bump into her now and again and last night it happened, I could see someone running towards me with a bottle of wine in her hand and it was her..."just put your head down and don't look" I thought to myself, so that's what I did...but as she passed me I heard her laugh...and that kind of made me question what I'm doing...but I pushed those thoughts aside so I could deal with them later. I chose to walk for the first 5 minutes and then accelerate into a jog...oooo, that extra Yorkshire pudding was definitely making it's presence known...I felt like a Yorkshire pudding myself!!! Then it was time for the cadence part of my run and I don't know where it came from but my body set of like a whippet...whoosh, 30 secs of very fast running, 30sec walk then off again, whoosh another 30 secs...repeated this 4 times, next up acceleration glider...repeated 4 times...walk, speed up then gradually glide into walking again...then a 10 min cool down jog home. I felt good as I walked through the door...I was soaked but I'd had a really good work out, shower, jamas and family movie time...I did think about her laughing at me but really it should be me who's laughing, I'm the one running.

I think running with a bat signal ahead of you would be hilarious. My wee boy offered me his "ghosty" torch the other day- shines in a ghost shape. Great idea, but not bright enough unfortunately!
Great run Mummycav, the saying you can choose your friends but not your family comes to mind. Anyway hope your doing well on your speed work and enjoying it. Like you I was soaked today but it's all part of this great feeling of being able to run. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day 😊😊

I think we must have a hibernating instinct on these cold dark mornings! 😂 I’m finding it a challenge to shake it off too. You’ve inspired me, I’ll go & face the rain, soggy leaves, squelchy mud...😄
well done, no matter what people say its what you feel that matters. I had a couple of hecklers on my Sunday run and when i looked at them they really should have a look in a mirror before they disrespect my trainers.

I have bright red Brooks Launch trainers and they were calling out that Dorothy wants her slippers back. Which was reasonably well thought out, but really they were all in sportswear but clearly never going to even walk fast lol. The launch trainers which were cheap have good grip for muddy leaf littered paths and fair damping and I find them quite fetching in the red on red 😂👍🏼 I have renamed them Dorothy’s as if you can’t beat them etc.
I look forward to shouting out has anyone seen my Dorothy’s 😂

A great run after gremlins, weather and “sister” overcome - fantastic. I would definitely have taken bat torch too if for nothing else than freak out your sister. I’m full of admiration for everyone who runs in the dark. Well done

So sorry to hear about your sister trying to put the mockers on it (such a shame...makes me realise how lucky I am to have such a supportive family), good on you for realising the truth of the matter...you rule coz you run! 🏃♀️😊

The thing about siblings is, they'll always know how to press your button, but you pressed back with a pretty amazing run, in the dark in true out there, don't care fashion. I absolutely love that. 😍 You have your own cheerleaders at home and in the VRB community and we're so much louder too! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🤩
Now think about it, someone was running for health and fitness and someone was running with a bottle of wine! 🤔Mm.....Notice it's a short thought process, because it doesn't take long to know who's the smart one in the family. You keep being the amazing you Mummycav! A wonderful Ambassador! ❤️
Oh Fab, she def knows which buttons to press, thing is, I don’t end up in tears like I used to, I’ve grown up since then...I’m happy doing my thing outside, in the dark or light, in the rain, wind or sun...and I know I have got a big extended running family out there who’s cheers keep me going, every single run...and now I’m an Ambassador in my favourite virtual place xxx ❤️❤️

Thankyou GoGo_JoJo , hug nicely received...you’re so right, running..the best therapy ever, I’d rather hold my head high proud of my running than my chin in a glass of wine...although I do like a glass now and again! That’s it...the bat is out.. 🦇
