Tortoise with wet feet 🌊🐢?

Scant 3k run today, to save the km for Sunday’s longer effort, so I revisited the Stepping Stones podcast. Always sounds so reasonable in Laura’s measured tones, but stepping up the step rate is not fun for a tortoise! 😨 And then I avoided the field path because of the mud but that sent me across the longish grass and whoosh, I could feel the cold water sloshing around in the toes of my shoes. Yuck. 😟 It got marginally better as the water warmed up, but not a lot.

Moreover, I’m not altogether sure it was particularly beneficial. Mr Garmin did say the run included my fastest 1km and fastest mile to date, but it wasn’t by much. And the just-behind records were on my 8km distance run recently, where I didn’t bother about pace. The faster cadence shortens my stride, so it’s a bit of a trade off.

On the plus side, Mr G was saying I’d increased my aerobic fitness by actually spending substantial time in heart zone 3 (it’s usually 2 more or less throughout). So who knows...? 🤔

Think I might not be cut out to be a stats geek and should stay with the long, slow tortoise plan. 🤣🤣

Happy running folks, and stay out of the way of those storms, all you race runners this weekend!

Well done for getting out between the rain showers Granspeed. Hope you’ve stuffed your shoes with newspaper to get them dry for Sunday. I went out today too because I’m chickening out of a very wet and windy parkrun tomorrow to watch the rugby. Gusts of 60 mph sounds like something to avoid. Beware of falling trees in the Forest. 🏃‍♀️👏👏

Yep. Rugby for me too tomorrow. High winds round here are not good news. 😮

Yes. I play about with stats a lot but “how I feel on the day” is my main guide.

Well done keeping going with wet feet. Stats sometimes just get in the way of a good run. Hope you have better conditions for your longer run on Sunday
