Well, it may not be under one hour, but at long last, my PB of 1:03:49, set back in November when I ran the Edinburgh Men's 10k, has finally fallen.
I didn't go out with any goal in mind, other than to do the 10k circuit that I'd planned, but I finished in a time of 1:02:07, so I'm definitely happy with that and it means that in the past 12 days, I've now completed the set of PBs for 5k, 10. 10 miles and Half Marathon; which wasn't something I'd anticipated doing.
To put the above into context (if it needs any), this time last year I was running the 20 minute Week 5 Run 3 of Couch to 5k, where I managed just over 2.5k. One year, 170 runs and 1,100k later, and this is where I am now.
I am definitely fortunate that I live in a part of the country where I have access to paths and trails pretty much right on my doorstep. I'm not sure I'd have managed those early runs if I hadn't somewhere out of the way and (almost) out of sight to struggle my way through them; and now, with the current COVID related restrictions in place, I'm even more grateful for them than ever.
Stay safe everyone...

Congratulations on getting that 1.02.07 PB, amazing what you can do in a year, it won't be long until you get a sub 60 minutes 10K, you should be very proud of yourself on achieving all those various distances within a year of graduating from C25K.
You are lucky in having those quite paths and trails very close to where you live.
Where I live I can get to fairly quiet routes, the nearest route is 2 minutes walk from my home, however, the route that I do most of my runs is a 10 minute walk away, so I can use that as a warmup.
Tomorrow I will be once again at 9.30am running a "Virtual 5K parkrun"
PS, I just wonder how long it will be until proper parkruns can begin again and you can get back to your other passion, rugby, no one really knows.
I'm hoping that the new rugby season in August will start as planned, but who knows. I agree though, I was looking forward to increasing my parkrun tally in between seasons. At least we can still get out and run, for which we should be grateful. I have friends in South Africa where they can't go out other than for essentially weekly shopping .
Yes, we too are lucky with the sea a mile one way and the south downs the other way and parks in between, i just hope when this is all over we never drive anywhere to run but walk to the places we want to go
Hopefully, although there's always the risk that we get fed up with our local routes through over familiarity, and feel the need to drive places just to get some fresh locations under our feet. I'm sure we'll be able to find a compromise.
I know that feeling. I could regularly improve shorter distance and segments but it took me nearly a year to go under 1 hour for a 10k. That 1h5m 10k PB was very persistent!
It was frustrating. I managed to improve all my other distance PBs at least a couple of times since November, but that 10k one was best to look unassailable.
Love this! What a terrific achievement. You may have trails and paths but in a world where excuses can be easy to find for not venturing out, you have put in the effort, miles and all the trials and tribulations have brought these achievements. I think whenever we achieve a run let alone a record it is something to celebrate. Those milestones are really special. Well done to you!
Thanks. I hadn't thought of it in those terms, but you're right. I can't set a PB every run and often runs are a bit "that'll do" or "good enough" and sometimes they are "thank God that one's done", but they all count.
I'm glad it inspires you. I never believed I'd achieve anything like the distances I now run, or that I'd enjoy running, but it seems that strange things can happen.
