Oops.... I might have ran too far

Since graduating from C25K a few weeks ago I've done a couple of consolidation runs using the C25K+ podcasts but i haven't been out as often as I'd like.

The last few days I've been super stressed (I imagine it has alot to do with it being half term. Love spending all day everyday with a 1,3&5 year old but remaining calm and relaxed is a struggle)

Decided to put this "running is good for your mental health" idea into practice. I found a podcast about the importance of rest and relaxing and off I went to clear my head.

Firstly, it worked. It felt so good to just getaway from it all and have some time to myself. Coming home I was definitely destressed, and a good night's sleep followed.

I wasn't really thinking about my running, I was just going one step in front of the other. I got home at the end of the podcast and uploaded my route to Strava to find 10.87Km completed.

WOW. That wasn't my intention and it also wasn't that hard. Time just disappeared and the miles just clocked up.

Wake up today however - YEOW!! My legs are feeling it! Stairs are a struggle and going from a sitting to standing position is accompanied by a little groan like I'm an old man.

I'm really hoping my legs have recovered by Saturday as my friend has beaten my Parkrun PB by 9seconds and so I've got to get that back or I won't hear the end of it 🤣

Back to a more disciplined running distance next week following JuJus magic plan

How was your warmup? runnersworld.com/advanced/a...

You may be struggling for a few days, and personally there’s nothing on earth that could make me go from that run and the pains today to trying for a PB in two days. Recovery runs are so named for a reason. Be careful out there.

Well done. Maybe some stretches when you get back from a run would help?

You can ask for your 10km badge now 🏅

Stretching is something I struggle with, both before and after. I really must get in to the habit of doing this, especially now I'm running further

I struggle with it too, but I do my most needed stretch in the shower after the run, under the warm water. It's becoming a routine👍

Sorry to hear you are in pain, must admit I had a bit of a giggle. I hope the children are being kind to you. We all need to learn not to do too much too soon - I'm try restraint but it's hard. Have you seen my post about psychological aspects of sports related injuries. Take care and maybe leave PR this week and give it a really good attempt the following Saturday so you aren't either disappointed or on the IC for a month.

So glad you managed to get out for a run and to 'de-stress' and sad to see you are in pain but I am not surprised after going that far. I enjoy your posts and keeping up on your adventure as it is very entertaining :)

Hopefully with plenty of water, rest for a few days and some stretching your PR will go well :)

Well done on your 10k - even if it wasn't intended!😀 Suggest you do some stretches tomorrow and definitely before parkrun, but I'd hold off on a PB attempt unless you really feel ok - you don't want to get an injury.🤕
