But not today! πAnother Park Run PB and Garmin 5k down to 28:37, shaving off 53 seconds. I didn't expect much from today, because I have been focusing on hills, so have been plodding rather than stretching out. I did back off a bit on the 4th K to get my breathing under control, but then did my fastest lap to finish.
I have to report sneaky behaviour by a VRB though! Tasha99 and her mate hurtled past me at the finish and said they had been tracking me and had crept up quietly so I didn't put in a finishing spurt!ππππ. Brilliant !!
Things may change at the next Park Run though as my mate has suggested we try another local run which he does, at Redcar. It will give me an excuse to break the PB sequence if nothing else π. Today is Kipchoge day though, so enough of my waffle. Happy running to those doing the GSR tomorrow. Reports eagerly awaitedπ

Oops, ahead of myself. I think it was the fever pitch excitement which misled me; they canβt keep bouncing around at that pitch for another week surely! π
"shaving off 53 seconds"!!!! This is not shaving it is slashing! Amazing! Do you know what age grade % thingy this gives you?
Congratulations on another PB! πΎπ₯π ππ»π€Έπ»ββοΈππ»π€Έπ»ββοΈππ»π€Έπ»ββοΈππ»ππ π₯β‘οΈππ
Thanks >61. I have no idea on the age related thing. The park run measure shows 58.50% but the time shown is, as always, slower, partly because I start so far back in the field . I could look it up out of interest I suppose π.
Well done to you! I feel so far off even thinking about PBs! I confess that I had planned to stay at 3x30mins, but couldn't resist increasing the distance of one run per week. Now at 5.5 km feeling pretty good πHappy, injury free running to you! πππ»
And you over 61. You are easing your way back in at your pace and in your own way. Enjoyment is the key. I think that I was running very conservatively for the first 12 months or so, just not sure what my system could stand really. I have recently discovered that I can do a bit more than I thought..a lot of it is just confidence and learning what is possible by running with others. I havenβt suddenly got a power boost!π
Wow Beachcomber, whatever you are having, can I have some pleaseππ Huge congratulations on a fantastic PB even if that sneaky Tasha99 did creep up on you. Brilliant ππ»ππ»ππ»
4:06 minute reduction since the beginning of August. Wouldn't have happened had I not been "persuaded" to get myself to a Park Run! Just what VRBs are for π
This is amazing, just soak it up while it lasts. As new runners the PBs will continue for some time and it will encourage us on our running journey! Parkrun is brilliant, I have only stuck to one parkrun down the road from me, but I want to venture out to other parkruns too!
I thought of you when Kipchogeβs result came through. They wanted the run to take place in 10 to 13 degrees...Spring and Autumn to us! So there is something in it! π
