Some of you will have seen my post from last week when I had a rather negative experience at a marathon relay event, and many if you sent me lovely positive messages, for which I am very grateful. I haven’t run since and had a funny old week: busy with the new students and a job interview on Friday for a promotion... although haven’t heard anything yet. So all in all, my mind has been occupied elsewhere.
I have a day to fill in the rain in York today while my daughter completes her gymnastics coaching course so I put my cap on and earphones in, donned my new leggings and set out with no expectations. I ran a truly wonderful 7.5k around the University campuses, got absolutely soaked to the skin but had my faith in running restored! I honestly haven’t enjoyed a run so much since I was in North Wales this summer. It’s the first run this autumn in long leggings and a light jacket: it felt so good not to overheat!
All in all, it was good for the soul: put things in perspective (how lucky am I that I can do this?) and I feel restored and balanced again.
Happy running, lovely people 😊

Thank you! The rain was nice, for the most part: I had a puddle & car incident thankfully near the end which flooded both feet, so it was pretty squishy after that! Nice not to be too hot, though 😊
Sounds like that was exactly what was needed. I enjoyed my rainy long tight and long sleeve shirt run on Friday as well. It really is nice to not overheat but I should be careful what I wish for since we're in a winter storm warning and it is snowing right now 😱. Gotta love the Canadian prairies. Our poor farmers are trying to finish harvest and Mother Nature says "Nope! You're done"
Lovely Molly! ❤️ Brush that stupid relay under the carpet and enjoy running for you, your way. Today’s run sounded perfect, and like you said, it’s good for the soul. Fantastic! 🏃♀️😀👍❤️
Usually people wish for sunshine after the rain, but for you the rainy run was so much better. I’d say you you are back on track again and enjoying the running .
Good for you molly1973 , a run like this is all we need to reaffirm our abilities...and the rain helps too, I find it so liberating!! Well done, York is lovely and I can imagine a lovely place to run x
