Thank you very much cheekychipmunks I donβt know π I think itβs my distance training thatβs paying off thanks again and yes it was very nice to meet people of the forum lovely people and Iβm going to chill later and have a celebration drink πΊπππ
Congratulations on achieving another PB Kev, well done, I wasn't at a parkrun this morning, instead I put on my running shoes and reran run 3 of week 5 of C25K along the same route that I ran my graduation run last year.
May those PB's keep coming, you may even soon get a sub 25 minutes time one day, there was a lady at the parkrun that I intend to run next week, today ran a sub 20 minute 5K in a time of 18.44, she is in the 55/59 age group, her age grading I notice is 99.29%.
Last week she was around the 98%, so I may see her next week if she is there passing me like a gazelle on lap two.
Thank you Alan yes they keep coming so far its all down to my distance training and Iβm having a blast so Iβm hoping to run the greater Manchester run next year in may 10k so that is something to look forward too ππ
Well done Kevtrev , especially on your "undulating" parkrun. I have to say I think that's my favourite parkrun so far... really pretty and interesting course, and soooooo friendly.
It was great to meet you at last - you're putting me to shame with your progress!
Thank you Ian yes it is a very nice park and very friendly thatβs why I havenβt done any other parks as I have lots of friends there and I look forward to running every Saturday.
And yes it was lovely to meet you too Iβm so glad you came to Hyde Park and you enjoyed it and I got to meet everyone. And thank you yes Iβm just loving my running and the distance training is helping me big time no shame your doing fantastic Iβve seen your finishing time which is fantastic well done you ππ
I really enjoyed Hyde today. The uphills were as bad as I expected and the downhill were very nice, not too steep so my knees didn't suffer.
The other two people were Sharuns and Geoff (he is not on this forum)
Sorry that we couldn't stop too long afterwards but Geoff and I were on a tight schedule.
Home for quick shower and a toasted tea cake then we had to find our way past the Tour of Britain roadblocks to Bramhall -we did get lost but arrived in time to see the cyclists pass by before we started playing at various locations for the Bramhall Scarecrow Festival.
So a busy day but all good fun.
See you again sometimes, we definitely intend to run at Hyde again
Thank you so much sue Iβm glad you enjoyed Hyde Park itβs a hard course but lots of lovely people come to the park and Iβve made quite a few friends there now.
Yes the uphill is hard but small short steps on tiptoes is a big help and then downhill you can make up for as I go for it downhill glad your knees were ok π
It was great to meet you Ian,Sharuns and Geoff and donβt worry about not stopping long I totally understand and we did the same watch the tour of Britain cycling it was fantastic and a toasty tea cake ummm lovely and I donβt know what a scarecrow festival is ?
Yes it would be nice to see you all again at Hyde Park ππ and it is a testing course ππ
The Rotary club organise the Scarecrow Festival. Lots of scarecrows were made by local people and businesses so there is a trail people can follow around the village to see them all. We didn't see many because we (Stockport Ukulele Players) were busy playing
Well done on another PB, continue to smash it up every parkrun, great updates from you Kev every time!
The be right back meet-up sounds lovely too! I think everyone on here shares a special bond even if you have not spoken to people directly, itβs a wonderful community of support.
Well done you thats an amazing time. So you reckon it is the distance training that is helping improve your times. Can I ask please r you doing longer runs like bridge to 10k to improve as I seem stuck with my times at the moment any tips would be much appreciated π
Thank you so much and yes Iβm training for a 10K so itβs only been improving since Iβve done longer running on the program and Iβm loving it as my 5k parkrun has improved my pace so much it will come to you as well naturally especially when you start doing distance training ππ
Thanks I hope so as the motivation is a bit of an issue. I think if I had a slight improvement it would help. I start end of the week see where it rakes me Happy Running π
Ok letβs put it this way you say your motivation is an issue you are doing fantastic donβt knock yourself there are plenty of people wish they could do what you can do they sit on the couch you go out running wishing they could do what you can do so next time your time isnβt what you want just think you have ran a 5k itβs keeping your mind great and you fit most people on a Saturday morning stay in bed and donβt do what you are doing you are doing fantastic so next time you think you are loosing motivation think of it like that and enjoy yourself it doesnβt matter about time speed just running makes me happy and time you will see it will come to you especially with distance training trust me happy running πππββοΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈπ
Thanks so much your so right I was only saying that earlier part of my problem is I have become a little obsessed about time. It is a miracle I can actually do this at all it took me three attempts to actually finish the C25k programme. I love running it has changed my life in ways I cant even explain. One morning last I ran 3k in my local park and climbed to the top of the hill and stopped it was a fantadtic morning big blue sky not too warm and I had good look around and had that amazing feeling that all was well with the world not perfect but just as it should be it was peaceful. Sorry for going off in a tangent but yes you could say I love running too. Thanks Kev have a great day Happy Running π
You are very welcome Iβm glad Iβve made you see what you are accomplished and a little tip for hills ok short small steps on your tiptoes this is better than most people go for it uphill and then they are burning out fast so once you do it my way you will recover faster then what you do is make up your time on the downhill I have used this technique past 3 park runs and it has worked for me maybe it will work for you too give it a try and let me know ππ and another thing Iβve stopped doing is watching the time just concentrate on your running ππ happy running Zanzibar ππ
Well done on another PB. Hyde parkrun is near me ( I usually go to Stamford Park) but may give Hyde a go. We watched the cycling yesterday but outside the old Roe Cross. It was great!
Thank you so much yes and if you do let me know itβs a very friendly welcoming park run also we werenβt that far away from you when we were watching the cycling it was great wasnβt it ππ
I'll bet, a great achievement πββοΈπ...I'm hoping to join you in getting Graduate10 by my name in a few weeks but imagine I will be a good few minutes over the hour π
