After breakfast me and the wife went and walked to the top of matley lane near the wagon and horses pub and watched the tour of Britain cyclists what a great atmosphere after walked back and watching the rest on tv later on going for a walk and then to a micro brewery at the tap room for a few cheeky beers have a great weekend everyone πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸ˜€

Congratulations on achieving another PB Kev, well done, I wasn't at a parkrun this morning, instead I put on my running shoes and reran run 3 of week 5 of C25K along the same route that I ran my graduation run last year.

May those PB's keep coming, you may even soon get a sub 25 minutes time one day, there was a lady at the parkrun that I intend to run next week, today ran a sub 20 minute 5K in a time of 18.44, she is in the 55/59 age group, her age grading I notice is 99.29%.

Last week she was around the 98%, so I may see her next week if she is there passing me like a gazelle on lap two.

Thank you Alan yes they keep coming so far its all down to my distance training and I’m having a blast so I’m hoping to run the greater Manchester run next year in may 10k so that is something to look forward too πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Well done Kevtrev , especially on your "undulating" parkrun. I have to say I think that's my favourite parkrun so far... really pretty and interesting course, and soooooo friendly.

It was great to meet you at last - you're putting me to shame with your progress!

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevGraduate10 in reply to Pianism

Thank you Ian yes it is a very nice park and very friendly that’s why I haven’t done any other parks as I have lots of friends there and I look forward to running every Saturday.

And yes it was lovely to meet you too I’m so glad you came to Hyde Park and you enjoyed it and I got to meet everyone. And thank you yes I’m just loving my running and the distance training is helping me big time no shame your doing fantastic I’ve seen your finishing time which is fantastic well done you πŸ‘πŸ˜‰

Well done Kevtrev,

I really enjoyed Hyde today. The uphills were as bad as I expected and the downhill were very nice, not too steep so my knees didn't suffer.

The other two people were Sharuns and Geoff (he is not on this forum)

Sorry that we couldn't stop too long afterwards but Geoff and I were on a tight schedule.

Home for quick shower and a toasted tea cake then we had to find our way past the Tour of Britain roadblocks to Bramhall -we did get lost but arrived in time to see the cyclists pass by before we started playing at various locations for the Bramhall Scarecrow Festival.

So a busy day but all good fun.

See you again sometimes, we definitely intend to run at Hyde again

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevGraduate10 in reply to RunaroundSue

Thank you so much sue I’m glad you enjoyed Hyde Park it’s a hard course but lots of lovely people come to the park and I’ve made quite a few friends there now.

Yes the uphill is hard but small short steps on tiptoes is a big help and then downhill you can make up for as I go for it downhill glad your knees were ok πŸ‘

It was great to meet you Ian,Sharuns and Geoff and don’t worry about not stopping long I totally understand and we did the same watch the tour of Britain cycling it was fantastic and a toasty tea cake ummm lovely and I don’t know what a scarecrow festival is ?

Yes it would be nice to see you all again at Hyde Park πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ and it is a testing course πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

RunaroundSue profile image
RunaroundSueGraduate10 in reply to Kevtrev

The Rotary club organise the Scarecrow Festival. Lots of scarecrows were made by local people and businesses so there is a trail people can follow around the village to see them all. We didn't see many because we (Stockport Ukulele Players) were busy playing

Well done you thats an amazing time. So you reckon it is the distance training that is helping improve your times. Can I ask please r you doing longer runs like bridge to 10k to improve as I seem stuck with my times at the moment any tips would be much appreciated πŸ‘

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevGraduate10 in reply to Zanzibar4

Thank you so much and yes I’m training for a 10K so it’s only been improving since I’ve done longer running on the program and I’m loving it as my 5k parkrun has improved my pace so much it will come to you as well naturally especially when you start doing distance training πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Zanzibar4Graduate10 in reply to Kevtrev

Thanks I hope so as the motivation is a bit of an issue. I think if I had a slight improvement it would help. I start end of the week see where it rakes me Happy Running πŸ‘

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevGraduate10 in reply to Zanzibar4

Ok let’s put it this way you say your motivation is an issue you are doing fantastic don’t knock yourself there are plenty of people wish they could do what you can do they sit on the couch you go out running wishing they could do what you can do so next time your time isn’t what you want just think you have ran a 5k it’s keeping your mind great and you fit most people on a Saturday morning stay in bed and don’t do what you are doing you are doing fantastic so next time you think you are loosing motivation think of it like that and enjoy yourself it doesn’t matter about time speed just running makes me happy and time you will see it will come to you especially with distance training trust me happy running πŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Š

Thanks so much your so right I was only saying that earlier part of my problem is I have become a little obsessed about time. It is a miracle I can actually do this at all it took me three attempts to actually finish the C25k programme. I love running it has changed my life in ways I cant even explain. One morning last I ran 3k in my local park and climbed to the top of the hill and stopped it was a fantadtic morning big blue sky not too warm and I had good look around and had that amazing feeling that all was well with the world not perfect but just as it should be it was peaceful. Sorry for going off in a tangent but yes you could say I love running too. Thanks Kev have a great day Happy Running πŸ‘

Kevtrev profile image
KevtrevGraduate10 in reply to Zanzibar4

You are very welcome I’m glad I’ve made you see what you are accomplished and a little tip for hills ok short small steps on your tiptoes this is better than most people go for it uphill and then they are burning out fast so once you do it my way you will recover faster then what you do is make up your time on the downhill I have used this technique past 3 park runs and it has worked for me maybe it will work for you too give it a try and let me know πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ and another thing I’ve stopped doing is watching the time just concentrate on your running πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ happy running Zanzibar πŸ˜€πŸ˜Š
