VRB meet up at Boston parkrun

What a great morning with lovely lexi6 and Mr Lexi. It was a first time for me at Boston even though it is only about 45 mins away. A really nice course of 3 laps around the Country Park, starting with a run through the trees, then turning onto the old towpath along the river and back through trees at the end. Only 156 runners as well. I think the chap from Whitstable thought he’d come a long way until they mentioned our Lexi πŸ˜‚ Then we toddled off to the Brewer’s Fayre for coffee, bacon buttie for me and omelettes for the lexis and a long chinwag! Lexi it was a delight meeting you. Enjoy the rest of your stay. VRBs a heads up that Wilmslow parkrun is next on her list πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Great leggings ladies! How lovely to catch up with the lexis Sandie and well done for getting out of bed earlier to get to Boston. VRB meet ups are the best.

Hoping to catch up with a few in the New Forest tomorrow but there will be thousands of runners there!

lexi6Graduate10β€’ in reply toDexy5

Thanks Dexy, my leggings were my bigger pair (after sampling all the local cuisine and beverages, I was worried they wouldn’t fit πŸ˜… although there’s still 3 weeks left to fill them) I had a wonderful time with Sandi1961 New Forest sounds like a lot of fun, especially meeting VRB’s

That is such a lovely photo of you and lexi6 Sandie. I’m so glad you guys were able to meet up and have a lovely run! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

It was just great cheekychipmunks, perfect weather and a lovely course and company. At breakfast got to watch how all the results are collated before they are posted online ( he was sitting at the next table) really fascinating stuff. Back in NZ I’ve never been for coffee after parkrun always too tomato red and sweaty, but breakfast with Baddiethepirate and Runningroni in Marple and now Sandi the idea is starting to grow on me, bit more than the idea starting to grow on me, but thats another story πŸ€ πŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

It was lovely! We discovered that we also have a common interest in family history, so I have now got a free website to research my family tree further πŸ˜ƒ

Yes, one of the things they are doing while they are here is delving into the past. So fascinating!

It was great to confess Sandi to not only being a running bore but a family history bore too and then find that actually I’m really not after all. πŸ‘

Ditto Sandi1961 what a lovely morning and so brilliant to meet you. Funny driving up from different directions and arriving at the same time, parking next to each other! Lovely parkrun and even better company. Loved our brekkie and natter. Hope you have a wonderful time next week. Now all I need is to win our Lotto and head back next October for a run in Ireland. πŸ™‚πŸ€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€ž

That really was a good run today for you all, meeting Lexi6 from New Zealand would make your run all the better.

I am a happy laddie as well, this morning at Dunfermline parkrun I got a PB of 32.01, the only disappointment was that no one was handing out any jellybabies after the πŸƒ 😊 run.

Brilliant run, Wow! what a great time. I was considerably slower than you today AlMorr but loved my run today. I just can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning. πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Although jelly babies would have been nice. πŸ˜€

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10β€’ in reply tolexi6

I could buy a packet of jelly babies and take them to my next parkrun, however, with an average of 180 runners to share them with I would have to buy them all in bulk. 😊 πŸƒ

Sounds like a great experience Sandie and lexi6 . Yes any parkrun tourist would have struggled to trump your NZ! πŸ˜€

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10β€’ in reply toJonathanP

It was funny though JohnathanP a couple came up to us after our run and said they had visited New Zealand and done 3 parkruns there. Up until now I’ve only ever done my local parkrun, so I have some serious catching up to do. Can’t wait.

Sandie1961 profile image

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10β€’ in reply toSandie1961

They sure were and I’d only been to one of the places they mentioned. Golly! lots of parkrun tourism on the cards, might have to pack the dogs into a campervan and make a start. Sure my future Lotto win will cover cost of van and GC. πŸ₯‚

I think Coddfish has also done parkruns in NZ so not that uncommon!

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10β€’ in reply toJonathanP

I seem to remember? scary Dunedin was one

Coddfish profile image
CoddfishGraduate10β€’ in reply tolexi6

Yes - over a 4 week stay I manage to organise my travel to complete Lower Hutt, Blenheim and scary Dunedin. I also ran the Hayley Park course but not at parkrun (couldn’t get that one to coincide with a Saturday).

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10β€’ in reply toCoddfish

Next time I come to the UK (🀞) I think I’ll book you as my travel agent. Such organisation to take in parkruns very impressive Coddfish πŸ‘

Coddfish profile image
CoddfishGraduate10β€’ in reply tolexi6

Our actual travel agent thought we were mad when we decided to add Dunedin to the end of the holiday largely to add another parkrun. Being in Wellington and Blenheim on two consecutive Saturdays had dropped out naturally.

Coddfish profile image
CoddfishGraduate10β€’ in reply toJonathanP

There were several British tourists at all 3 NZ parkruns I did. I am not the only parkrun addict!

Thanks Bluebirdrunner, living so far away I never thought I’d get to meet anyone from the forum so the run and the breakfast after with Sandi was very special, still smiling now. Xx
