Tuesday and Thursday I only have time to do 5-6k runs. Sundays I have been building up and today did 9k!!! So close now to 10k! I love it!
But this Thursday gone I was off work and I intended to expand my 8k run by five mins ... But I struggled and ended up only doing 7k! Which is still great! But I wondered how I was going to manage today (Sunday) but whoop... I did my 9k as I said!
So why can I only do the longer run on Sundays lol? Is it because I am mentally prepared for it?? Or perhaps because of the route I do? On Sundays I go out between 6-7am and do this beautiful road route with farm land and trees and a track leading past cows. However I can only do this route Sunday as there is no pavements but on Sundays only a handful of cars pass by. Whereas weekdays its too busy!
Trying to do 8k on Thursday I have to go like 3k in one direction, 3k back, then 1k back the way I just come etc. Maybe that throws it off? When I turn my body (or mind?) perceives that as the home run?

Do you work Monday-Friday? If so, Saturday may mean you’re better prepared for Sunday.
Could be onto something with the psychology of running home only to go out again too... don’t know how to combat that one though! Maybe if you walked the out bit, ran in out and then back... that would have you home for the first time still very fresh and earlier in the run?
Yep I work mon-fri. Do my Tues and Thurs run after work. Fri and sat I don't run but do plenty of walking exercises. Which I guess means I'm more rested before Sundays run?
