June was supposed to mark my first ever event, a local 10k. Instead I ended up in Arizona with work plodding around in 35 degree heat.
July brought some holiday running in Italy. Hot and hilly, but great to start the day running alongside a lake with the sun coming up.
And August finds me in India. The running kit is the first thing in the suitcase and this morning after a couple of treadmill runs in the hotel gym I headed outside for a trot round. It’s felt hard this week but I just discovered that where I am is 1km above sea level - not exactly really high altitude but I wonder if it makes a difference.

Being 1000m up definitely makes a difference! Heat affects performance too but it seems you're used to that. For what it's worth, I went swimming in Andorra some years ago and found that my lap times were significantly impacted. That was at 1700m but there's still going to be a notable effect at 1000.
That’s good to know. The thing that really confused me was why the treadmill in the gym felt harder when usually it’s supposed to feel easier. Oh well, maybe I can say I’m training at altitude 😀
