A funny ol' week of running...and new shoes!😍

Having got my long run back up to 10 miles recently, I thought my 10k run earlier in the week would feel a little easier than it did! Sadly, it was one of 'those' runs which I know we all get from time to time, where it all felt like hard work! I trudged on, telling myself to take no notice of those first couple of k, they can often feel tough...it gets easier...I will find the zone...my happy pace and all will be well...but no...it did't really happen and this ended up feeling like a 'run of duty' !πŸ˜•

Anyway, I felt fine afterwards (despite a slightly niggly knee during the run itself) and seemed to recover ok. Fast forward a couple of days - my new Brooks Adrenaline arrived yesterday (photo above), my eldest son got his place at Uni ☺️ and today's run out on the local trails was just what I needed after what has been quite a busy week. Relatively cool, beautifully breezy and of course just a lovely place to run πŸ˜€πŸ’¨πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸ‘! It was still just about dry enough to test out the new Adrenalines, which felt comfy (I am hoping they will help my niggly knee) and back home now feeling so much more relaxed! πŸ™‚

Big congratulations to your son on achieving his uni place (and to his mum for getting him there) - I'm so glad I'm past the 'brown envelope day' phase of our family life (though it's not long enough past for the scars to have healed).

If you have another not so great run, just ask yourself just how delighted you think I would be to have a bad run today 😝. Remember every run is just prep for the next great one, and we're so lucky to be able to run πŸ™‚ - but I know you know that. Here's hoping your new shoes have many happy miles in them 😍

Thank you Linda. Yes, massively proud of my son - he worked so hard and deserves his success..but we will miss him when he's away!πŸ™ I have joked to my fifteen year old that I can focus my attention on getting him through his GCSE's now! ("be afraid...be very afraid!"πŸ˜‰). You are so right about the running of course πŸ˜” - I am lucky to run and I know how it feels on that dreaded i/c. Hope you are doing ok? πŸ™‚x

Massive well done to your boy! One on the way... :)

I love the shoes... many many happy runs in those my friend! The colour is beautiful too and definitely going to make for light feet :)

Good luck with your new shoes Sandraj39. I have the same ones and love the colours. I've just been to the running shop and been fitted with some heel lifts because I'm finding the cushioning in the back is so high, it's pressing into my achilles. Hopefully, the higher heel drop won't adversely affect my forefoot running style. A test run before a long one I think. Bring back the GTS18s!

Thanks Dexy - I have been running in Brooks Ravenna (road) and Calderas (trail). Hoping the Adrenaline's support might help my niggly knee. We will see...πŸ™‚

They are gorgeous 😍...I'm beginning to wonder if Brooks make any that aren't! Glad you got on well with them and hope they cure your niggle, I'm hoping mine do the same for me. Also, massive congrats to your son, and the Mum who raised him πŸ˜€πŸ‘

I had 'one of those runs' yesterday, legs felt tired and it was hard work! Well done for persevering 😊 and congratulations to your son.
