Totally Bewildered.

Now I’m running 10K’s quite easily and feel I ready to step up again and work towards 10 miles.

Heeding advice on this forum I acknowledge I will need to take on water and some fuel as I press ahead with these longer runs and therefore I am going to need a running belt.

But I’m totally bewildered by the vast range of them available and which is best for my needs. I want one with 1or 2 water bottles, a pouch for some fuel, probably dried apricots, maybe room keys and a little money.

I currently carry my phone on a armband so can easily check my Runkeeper and my music is via Bluetooth. So I don’t necessarily need one that will carry a phone but then again I’m hoping Father Christmas may bring me a Garmin watch, so then I may prefer to put my phone in a belt.

Do Lads and Lasses, any advice on which belt I should buy, which doesn’t cost the earth either?

Any help would be greatly welcomed!

Chris, I’d 100% recommend a hydration pack instead of a belt. I got one for my build up to 10 miles and beyond and I wouldn’t be without it for long runs now. 😀

Really comfy, loads of easy to access pockets for everything you might need, and you can fill the bladder as much or as little as you want - you can also take separate bottles for electrolytes etc.

Well worth it in my opinion. 👍

I'll second that. I tried belts to start with but once you start needing reasonable amounts of fluid it just bounces at the waist and annoys. I love my Salomon Agile 2 which holds (and comes with) 2 x 500ml soft flasks. I also managed to make it take another 1ltr in a bladder on the back although it's not meant for it. I got mine on offer at about 35 quid.

I've just upgraded to the Salomon adv skin 12 but I'll use the Agile for shorter runs still (sub HM)
