Head torch

Can anybody recommend a good head torch? I know it’s still summer but I work nights and like to run after work (around 04.00am) and it’s dark now. I run on unlit lanes around where I live so I need to be able to see...(and be seen)

Thanks!

There was an article in runners world on this recently that might help: runnersworld.com/uk/gear/te...

I’ve got a Petzl Reactik which is great, but is a bit pricey for the amount I use it and lacks a rear light (I clip a separate one onto the headband). If I had my time again I’d probably spend less.

For being seen you might also want to consider an arm band light and reflective vest.

I use a petzl tikka head torch, battery operated, tilt adjustable, 3 brightness settings.

Once I had mastered getting it on without bashing the bridge of my nose I was great!!!

I used it all last autumn and winter, the batteries last a good while.

I also use hi vis braces and flashing armbands, you can't be too visible 😊

I use a chest torch from Decathlon that also has flashing red lights on the back. I struggled with a head torch, it kept slipping down and I felt like I was holding my head awkwardly to keep it balanced. The chest torch is great and very comfortable and seems to be less likely to dazzle oncoming people or cyclists as the light is lower down.

Agree completely with jacky-f. I use the same one and find it excellent.

I am with Jacky-f and trpp - I tried head torches and found them uncomfortable. I use the chest torch from Decathlon - you can even adjust the angle so you are not blinding drivers.

Another vote for a chest light! Head torches wobble about and are annoying 😬. Chest lights have white front and rear red lights and are comfortable to wear. Definitely recommend 😊

Decathlon - have a battery one about £13 (blue, 3xaaa) and a usb rechargeable one for about £20, I have the blue one decathlon.co.uk/onnight-210.... I use it for everything even doing jobs around the house. Batteries last ages. You can get brighter ones as well. I also have a coin sized red LED clipped on the back (again Decathlon) that I've never changed the battery on but it uses a commonly available battery
