Hills....again!

So, today the middle 15 minutes Run was all uphill. Gradual long slope, but uphill nonetheless. So, I had time to consider my hill strategy. Why is it that I run at them like I do, almost faster than running on the flat. I know understand myself. It’s because, when I slow down and shorten my stride it takes longer to get up the hill and get it over with. I have to constantly slow myself down because I’m trying to just get up the hill and get it over with!

So, understanding myself is hopefully going to help my hills. Because actually, I get up the hills when I slow down-and that feels so much better and more controlled!

Also, today I felt stronger. My final 15 minutes felt good and I felt strong in the legs and my breathing was controlled. Long may it continue!

I do the exact same MM! I'd imagine it's quite common, you see the top of the hill and you speed up because you want the pain to go away! 😂 It takes practice and confidence, that's why I always advise people to throw some hill training into their training. It teaches you how to handle it, you find your comfortable/hill pace in those training sessions, and then when you're out on your runs and you hit a hill, it becomes automatic.

I'm good!... I'm doing a canal run either tomorrow or the day after... I always think about your graduation post when I do a canal run! 😁

Lol. I find canal running tricky because it’s so flat?? I guess with the inclines come the downhills and I think I like that better?? Lol
