Went out this afternoon after work with the intention of doing 17 - 18K (did 10 miles last week). Around 2K in and I could feel there was something not quite right with my right calf but continued on. By 4K it was obvious that my right leg was just a passenger. Hobbled on to 5K and stopped on the canal next to a lovely little pub. Did some stretches and considered my options.
1. Continue on - nah, never gonna happen.
2. Have a drink in the pub - didn’t have any money.
3. Walk back.
So, ended up walking 6K back in the rain trying to keep my chin up.
Hopefully it’s just a minor niggle and after a couple of days I’ll be back on it. Funny how a 5K run is a disappointment when only 8 months ago I couldn’t even run for 90 seconds.
Onwards and upwards.
