Parkrun fun

I completed C25K a couple of months ago, and have continued to run, gradually increasing load, and trying to work on endurance. My son was home this weekend and suggested Parkrun, we have done a couple before. I was dubious about what time I would get, not having done any work on speed, and having been doing slow longer runs. Conditions were pretty poor, the course was slippery and the wind strong.

I set off nice and slowly thinking finishing is the key. Had a sense around 3k that I was getting a little faster, completed the final climb and although breathing heavily, got a bit of a shift on for the final 600m to cross the line.

Checked my watch at the finish only to find I’d knocked 2.5 minutes of my Parkrun PB, and beaten my 5K best ever by over a minute. Checked Strava afterwards to find a near perfect set of negative splits. 🏃🏻‍♂️😀
