Thank you for all your wise input regarding running shoes. In the end I couldn’t end my love affair with the Cloudflows, so here’s the pair I got, pic attached.
I’m intending to take them on their first official outing at lunch time, running bag already packed and everything. These are such amazing shoes to run in, hence why in the end I couldn’t bear to change. I know I could have changed to maybe the Cloudflyers, but I have struggled to find a local running shop which stocks them, and would rather see them in person first.
I shall report back soon regarding the test run

Nice to hear from you again Neil, I do like the look of those shoes and I am sure you will enjoy your 'test run' running with them, are you going for a 5k run or longer? whatever the distance, enjoy your run.
Thank you AlMorr This is my third pair of these shoes, it's just nice to have a new pair once in a while. When I can feel the support starting to go, I know it's time.
I only have half an hour at lunch time, so it will probably only be about 3k to give me time to change too, but I shall enjoy it! The first outing in a new pair of clouds is always special
Thank you cheekychipmunks , they are nice I might, at some point, treat myself to a trip to my local running shop and try some other brands, but given that these needed replacing NOW (I was just too dopey to notice) I think this was the best option for me. Plus... they are gorgeous!
Thank you misswobble I've got enough issues with my gait that I'm in the process of fixing with my physio and PT, so I didn't want old shoes to add to that. Plus, what runner doesn't love getting new running shoes?
I'm just at that horrible stage with them... they are so pristine, and I don't want to take them for a run for precisely that reason, but then again, they are called running shoes for a reason! It's gotta be done!!
Oh those are very smart! Enjoy your inaugural run in them, 316neil ! I love new On shoes – you will feel the springy new-ness in every step. I am pretty loyal to my Cloudflyers, too. I mean, they have seen me through 10k training and are now doing me proud on my HM training. Almost too scared to switch brands now (though keep eyeing up Saucony.)
Well... I did enjoy my inaugual run Sadie-runs , thank you very much, and yes they are rather smart, even after a bit of lunch-time unintended off-roading The fit is exactly the same obviously, but I do notice the better support at the heel, so it was definitely time to replace them. How are your many pairs getting on?
Glad it went well! Do you use a racer’s heel lock lacing system, BTW?
Well. It’s just the two pairs right now! My blue Flyers are still okay (bought them in April, but they have taken a beating!) and my orange and grey Flyers are being broken in for race day! I took them out on my long run yesterday - comfy as anything! I wonder if I should try the Cloudflow sometime...hmmm. 😁
Thank you Jan, I'm not sure I was on here last time I replaced my shoes (was taking a "break") but it's what you do, right, post pictures of your new babies?
It's good to have shoes that you love and make you smile, especially ones which make you go faster 🤣 Glad you clearly get on well with your Asics too - I considered something like that model last time round.
Thank you UnfitNoMore , they look rather smart don't they? I hadn't considered that colourway before, but I wanted a change from the last pair. 4k done so far in them
Great new shoes Neil. It’s great to stick to a pair so long as the companies don’t discontinue them like my brooks GTS 18s, the 19s aren’t as comfy to me.
Oooh I always fancied On but I don’t think they fit me properly! They’re very nice - enjoy! Let me know when you’re in Whitby again and we’ll do a VRB meet up!
Thank you! I don’t know about the sizing, I know UK 10.5 is my size... I’ve just gone with the same fit that I tried on in the running shop whenever that was. I will certainly drop you a message next time I am in Whitby, I loved it and the kids want to return. It’s not too far from you, is it?
I’m a newbie to running and run locally (Lancashire) through fields tracks cobbles etc. Reading about Cloudflow it mentions road grip only. Do you know if they’re suitable for other surfaces?
Hey there! I used to live in Lancashire until a couple of years ago, on the coast at Heysham, but I know a lot of the Lancashire countryside and it would be great if a little challenging for running I would say the Cloudflows, whilst they are grippy and will work on trails, are better suited to road/track use. For off-road/trails I have a pair of their Cloudventure trail shoes. Considerably heavier in comparison but really good.
They’ve also got a new lightweight trail shoe out I notice, the Cloudventure Peak which looks good.
Lol! Not sure how laces can look professional, but I’ll go with that The only thing I added was the runners loop technique, taught to me by my dear friend Sadie
Niiiiice 316neil ...I kinda knew you'd stick with those....you've had some great times in your old pair, time to have some.good times with this foot candy!!
