Quick runs and new shoes!

New shoes arrived! I invested in a wide toe box, 9mm drop New Balance trail shoe. The only pair left was in boring but practical black.

As I recover from my Plantar Fasciitis, I have found having a bit more support and drop helps, and my old New Balance tend to now feel a bit to tight as I have been running ca 2 years in wide-toe box, 0-drop Altras. My old New Balance also are getting to their end life span, but I will still walk and run in them. I just can’t wear double skin socks or toe socks in them.

Today was also the first time that I took the new shoes out for their first spin, and I also put on my Capris and sleeveless vests. Again first time this year. Fueling that valuable Vitamin D!

I’m currently running only shorter routes as I am trying to get on top of my PF niggles, so today I chose a recently discovered new circular route but chose to run it the other way around. It’s such a simple trick to experience a route all fresh and new.

Loved my little run, although I got out there quite late this morning.

Happy running!

Excellent! My last run over two weeks ago now. I have new shoes but have not yet worn them. Have ordered extra ankle strapping in the hope that when my achilles is a bit better I will be able to run strapped up. I did walk for 8 minutes on the running machine today!

Yeah. Sending you loads of healing wishes. It does seem sometimes two steps forward three back. But then often it’s 2 back and 3 forward.

Glad you loved your little run. Good luck getting on top of your PF niggles. I sympathise as I have just had a 3 week running break to try and sort my own PF issues out. Definitely feeling less pain now so am going to start up with my first run back tomorrow I think (probs walk and run mix and see how I go). Have also ordered some PF insoles so will give them a try too. Would be interested to know how you are dealing with your PF. It is so difficult to know whether I should rest more or take it easy etc. I really want to get back to running though. Enjoy your new shoes!

Thank you. And yes. It’s an annoying condition, isn’t it. As it hall usually has a delayed pain response, it is so easy to overload your feet/legs.

I’m in my third week of strength and flexibility training focussing on PF prevention. See healthunlocked.com/strength...

We do have regular posts on PF over there, as it is so easy to overload our feet and then we suffer this condition.

Hope your insoles will work well.

Thanks for links. I am going to give these exercises a try (just started with the ´first thing in the morning’ ones). I have been doing some exercises for the last 3 weeks (stopped running), and wearing silicon insoles in supportive trainers and all seemed to be going in the right direction, but yesterday I did a bird survey which involved a lot of standing and quite a bit of slow walking. I made sure I sat down regularly to rest my feet but today it feels like I’ve gone back to square one. So annoying. I guess I have to listen to my body and delay my return to running for at least a day or two.

Oh dear. That sounds so familiar. (But doing a bird survey sounds so awesome).

Hope your PF niggles recede. Here’s to giving some love to our feet! 👣 🦶👣🦶

Lovely run and great new shoes, pretty colours are fun but black is great

Teehee. Yes black is practical I think, as they don’t look ad dirty when a bit older.

Yup. 2nd run today. Felt great. (Not quite as bouncy as my last ones but almost. And they definitely have space for my toes!)
