I am really loving my time here in Cornwall - despite forecasts that the weather wasn't going to be good, we've been really lucky with sunshine and blue skies everyday (and rain at night) - though this may change tomorrow.
So obviously have been making the best of the opportunities to run and walk and Strava tells me I've been more active so far in August than in the whole of July π. To be honest this is more down to walking than running miles (30Kish in walks along the coast since we got here) but I have put in two glorious early morning 5Ks since last reporting . The first up Sancreed Beacon on Monday (great views across the valley we're staying in and out across Mount's Bay and St Michael's Mount to the east) and today through real Poldark landscape running between Botallack and Geevor mines.
I really love this industrial stretch of coast with impressive cliffs and the sea on one side and ruined mining works on the other. I've walked it often and last time we were down here looked at the path with a runner's eye and thought I can run this.
Cut to this morning with bright sunlight glinting off the water and a postcard blue sky and nothing was going to stop me! A perfect 5K from deserted Botallack Manor (I'm going to buy it and renovate it when I win the lottery) along the bridleway past Levant Mine to Geevor's other worldly landscapes then back along the coast path to Crown Mines down by the sea.
Until today I'd not noticed how much more uphill it was from Geevor to Botallack but did I care that it slowed me down? Not a bit... My favourite 5K to date π.
Now how am I going to top that? π€
Happy Sumner running everyone π
