Well, that was unexpected, a new pb for me - knocked off one minute and one second, despite having to slow down and pick my way through a few muddy patches. It was pouring with rain and much cooler after our recent heatwave, felt great to be back running again and I'm well chuffed with that! Hope everyone else has had a good Parkrun today. βΊ
Parkrun - a wet and muddy pb! : Well, that was... - Bridge to 10K
Parkrun - a wet and muddy pb!
Very well done, Debs! Glad you are back and hope the hip is OK.
Fabulous Debs. A minute off your Pb is amazing πππ I think we have all enjoyed our cooler, rainy parkruns this morning!
Well done on your PB Deb! πππ Iβm so envious of all of these rainy PR reports. Mine was brilliant fun (always!), but although it was only showing 20 degrees in my car, it was sunny and still very humid with a hot headwind! π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅
Crikey Debston one minute and a second off your PB! Thats brilliant. Rain, mud, puddles, no problem. Good for you π
Outstanding Debs! Must be a great feeling to get back out there and then get a PB.
Have you seen anyone about your hip? Maybe there's some medical advice that could help. I know a few people with hip problems, but I wouldn't want to suggest anything and make it worse. π
Thanks, clubberlang! Suggest away! Willing to try just about anything... I think I probably need to see a physio to be honest. I have had hip and back problems before when I was pregnant with my first set of twins and had physio and hydrotherapy then but the main thing was to do exercises at home which I am doing again now. It's just frustrating when it feels fine to run but then I set it off again!
Nicely done Debston! Must have been a bit tricky with the muddy patches but you got a new pb! Yay! The cooler weather is much nicer, isn't it!
Well done Debs, good time as well, you seem to have been running around several "unknowns." I wonder if they forgot their barcode.!!?!! π
It always surprises me how many "unknowns" there are in the results! Still, easy to forget your barcode I suppose, in all the excitement... π Sorry to hear that the rain scuppered your plans for Parkrun today, hope it's dry for the next one. βΊ
It's not the rain that stops me running, it's the distance, sitting in a bus with soaking wet clothes is very uncomfortable, if the parkrun was within walking distance I would run in the rain but get out of my wet clothes within 10 minutes, but more than a hour I could get a very bad cold.
I have a suspicion that some Unknowns prefer a performance not to be registered. I grab what I can. Well done Debston- get that hip looked at. Not long till the next Olympics!
Ooh, hadn't thought of that - sneaky! But sometimes the "unknowns" are super fast - I would definitely be claiming some of those times... Hmmm. And yes, I will get it looked at, got that gold medal to train for... π
I have noticed that, indeed there are many "unknowns" +30 minutes although some are sub 30 minutes, once I noticed a unknown being the winner, the person who came second had a sub 17 minutes 5K,perhaps the winner had forgotten his barcode.
Well done! A minute off your previous is impressive. π
Thanks ktsok! I have been reading a book called The Art of Running Faster! Was trying to remember all of the advice as I went round the course... π
Something was working, clearly! Was it clenching your buttocks? Pumping your arms? Looking up?! Sooo much to remember!
Ooh, he hasn't mentioned buttock clenching, best add that to the never ending list! π He's very big on using your arms to get your legs moving so I was trying very hard to do that, and also landing lightly on my feet, rather than just plonking them down. There's just too much to keep track of! It's an interesting read though, and the main gist seems to be that most people can run a lot faster than they think...
Great job Debs! Hope the exercises help with that pesky hip.
