Feeling nervous for my first official 10k on Sunday. Anyone got any advice to help me get to the finishing line? x

I felt so nervous about doing the Bristol 10k in April, but I promise you that once you start running it all goes away . Hopefully, you haven’t done any strenuous running this week. Make sure you get there in plenty of time to join the loo queue so that you can catch your wave, but don’t worry if you have to join a later one. Make sure you have a good night’s sleep tonight as you may not on Saturday night. Most of all , look around you, have fun and enjoy!! 🏃‍♀️👏🏻👏🏻

Hi.

Dont worry and don't stress it. I was sooooo nervous about my first one. But honestly once I got there was fine.... And once u start off running u'll b even better. As dexy says just enjoy it. 😊

Have fun. Looking foward to Yr after report. PS the one i did no there was no waves or staged set offs. But I know all be different.

First and foremost, LL, enjoy the day. The atmosphere is amazing and you certainly won’t be the only newbie. 🏃‍♀️

Run your own race. Don’t go off too fast (like I did at Bristol 🙄!) don’t wear anything new or try a piece of kit you’re not used to, and make sure you fuel up sensibly tomorrow. 👍

Have fun! You’ll have a blast, and the feeling when you cross the finish line and get your very own bling is amazing! Don’t forget to take a photo of it and tell us all how you get on! 🏅

Good luck. 😀😀😀

Good luck. Can’t advise, haven’t done any races myself. Hope it all goes well.

Lots of good advice above - just go out there and run your own race. Good luck, enjoy and think of the bling! Look forward to that race report!👍🙂

Just remember its about completing not competing you well be fine nothing to worry about you will love it enjoy the moment

Don’t change your normal routine. Eat the same breakfast you normally eat before a long run. Don’t wear anything new. Try to place yourself where you think you can run comfortably. I stay near the back but not quite at the back. Go to the loo a zillion times. Start relaxed and don’t get caught up and speed off. Enjoy and be amazed at the feeling of running through the finish line.

Oh, you will absolutely LOVE it! If there are Pacers, go and talk to the one that's just a bit better than your PB. I talked to mine all the way round and found it fabulously motivating and strangely comforting. But, equally, don't worry about your time - just being there, running it and getting your well-deserved medal will stay in your mind forever! All the very best. :)
