Gerrhh! I ran 8.5k on may 15, and (apart from a couple of short runs,) flu and waiting for some stitches to heal have stopped me running since, until yesterday! So how was it, I hear you cry? Very much not great π.
First, I forgot my Garmin. Went to start it, and saw my everyday Seiko with the cracked glass. Marvelous. But, didn't matter as it turned out, because it really wasn't worth recording. I set off happily along the canal - I was running again at last! 5 minutes later if that, I slowed to a walk to recover for a minute. Or two, who knows. Then managed a full ten minutes (maybe), stopped to admire the sun glinting on the canal and absolutely NOT to catch my breath, turned round and jogged slowly back. All timings are estimates because, you know, no Garmin! Also, some thief has nicked my proper lungs and replaced them with piddly little mouse lungs while I've been sidelined. (Gasp.) Don't know what this does to my b210k quest- going out again tomorrow, I'll let you all know how that goes. Still - back out there! It can only get better, surely! Other good news - dodgy foot has been aching lately, and didn't feel great on the "run" but it's actually feeling much better today, so it's done it some good π Happy running, folks!

Thatβs brilliant news GOG that you are back out there ππππ. Ok so not the run you wanted but you are out there running and dodgy foot is holding up. Those mouse lungs will soon be doing you proud too. You are back running and thatβs brilliant π happy running for tomorrow and enjoy....
Thank you so much π I know I shouldn't complain but what a shock!π I have high hopes for tomorrow. I probably shouldn't be having another prosecco right now. Oops too late π
The next one will be better - you know how some runs are. Some are rubbish; others are great. Thatβs just the way it is. Move on. Well done on making your comeback ππ½
Oh grumps....!! This is easy for me to say, but donβt push too hard. A couple of relaxed 3.5ks if need be, just to get the bellows working again. You will have to build up to 8.5 again I suspect...I definitely would in the same circumstances... just be kind to yourself and you will be back up there before you know itπ
I know you're right BC, it just seems to be the story of my running life, but I did c25k twice, so I can do magic 10 twice. Just, aaargh! Ok rant over, a nice gentle 3.5 in the morning, lungs permitting. It'll be great! π
I had 2 set backs on the way up to 10k, so had to slide down the snake and start again!! But, I made sure I was stronger for each new attempt ..so the end result was more sustainable. You will do this, no question ππποΈββοΈ
I'm determined to get there, I'm not sure where to start from, but I'm going to try 3.5 tomorrow and see how I go. I have no idea how fit I am now, I'm just hoping to enjoy it tomorrow.
I know, right?!!! (So I never really did that stinking run, heh heh!) Honestly, I was so thrown, I nearly went back home for it. Then I got a grip π
Back out there is good. ππΌ Doing my own tottering along after an interrupted Bridge journey, so totally get it. But revised plans can work, I keep telling myself, so now I can tell you too & sound convincing ... errr, well .... Yes! Weβll go for it! ππΌββοΈπ¨ππΌββοΈπ¨
Good to have you back, and you had a run... I do know how you feel... the legs seem to belong to someone else. but at least they work. Take it steady and take it slow
Almost the same here ... I already ran 8,5k at the beginning of May, then there appeard knee problems and vacations ... I had to go back in my B210K plan after the first few runs of 30 minutes were really frustrating. But on Saturday I reached 8k although I only planned 7,5k! Woohooo! I'm back on my way to 10k ... hopefully!! So I think the next runs will be better for you, too! And maybe you just missed your Garmin so sadly that you couldn't run properly!
Hi lezlie, good to hear that, and well done for perseverance! πͺ I'd like to blame the lack of Garmin. And run 2 was much better with it, it definitely felt better having it there beeping away. π
